Thanks for writing that - I think that the one thing that I would suggest (and I think I mentioned it earlier and you probably have already realized it) was just general more planning.

You mentioned it in your losses of Buddhism / Hinduism or the wonders. You thought about Buddhism, but (As you probably read), M-H worked an otherwise sub-optimal 1/1/2 wines tile to make sure to land it.

You can't plan for everything but it certainly helps. Planning might help you when you decide to sign a NAP - so if you know that you might have to plan on a war, to not sign a NAP with both your neighbors - that kind of thing.

Anyway - thanks again, and thanks for keeping this thread

Thanks for the write-up. As to feedback, I dug up this early quote as it seems to cover the main problem you had:

Swiss Pauli Wrote:Re: strategy - wonders without the doubler aren't compatible with military expansion wink Try to formulate a game-plan and follow it through as best you can: better to lose trying to put a plan (peaceful, or aggressive) into action than to be defeated because you didn't make a proper bid for victory.

Thanks very much for the thought and effort you put into your thread, and for playing such an enjoyable game! (Enjoyable to lurk at least! I hope it was as much fun for you!) Your reports throughout, the energy and good humor with which you continued to the very end, and your contributions to the war stories in the Public Player's Thread all helped make this one an RB game for the ages.

I'm afraid I can't contribute much strategic or game-mechanics insight, having never yet played a turn of Civ 4 (maybe when I get a computer that was actually built in the 21st century...) but it seems you've learned a great deal just in the course of playing the game!
