[SPOILERS] Emissaries from the blighted lands; Mardoc and Jkaen take on the world!

Quote:Will look at a save when I get a chance but gut says we want another hunter/hawk pair. One for home defense and early warning and another to start mapping.

We probably are falling behind the curve a bit now after the choke. given the amount of preimproved terrain around I would say hawk-hunter-settler-worker makes sense not having seen anything yet

I was going to say As for your city I agree with settler/worker - grow into mansions - settler worker - grow into mansion etc but I forgot we can't whip units out. Probably saw settler next for you.

The main hope I have on the curve is that darrell managed to choke everyone else too (maybe even still choking them). We can catch up to the Clan. It's harder to catch up to other civs. But yeah, to catch up we've got to go full speed ahead on growing.

I think we're mostly on the same page here. I'll point out that a hawk alone can do most of what we need for home defense, we don't need a hunter to stay home. That would save a few turns on your first settler.

Thanks for reminding me about the pre-improved tiles, that makes it easier to focus on settlers for a while.

It's only a question of now or later, you're right that I absolutely want it soon. It'd be worth 7 hammers/turn at the moment, and keep growing when the city does. But...I really need some settlers and workers, too. Nothing else comes close.

Anyway, I can't build it this instant, Code of Laws is still on its way. Maybe after the current first settler finishes I'll go for Governor's Manor in my capital.

Something funny that occurs to me - if we're really lucky, we even taught Darrell to be more careful with his chokes and they'll last a long time against the others.

Ok, this is how my area now looks

I have dotted around 3 possible city sites if you can see them through the sign spam. decided not to move the hunter hoping the goblin attacks me on the hill as I didnt like the odds for me attacking.

My gut says to head for city site A atm and move towards the middle of the map

Here are also my current Demos

Since this is FFH we also have the clans graphs (which I forgot to capture) but looking at the power graph they have a scout sized drop a while back then only 1 other drop, so I think its reasonable to assume the other 2 are still chocked.

Played my turn, have a whole host of barbs scattered around atm, so will start to farm them, hopefully we can get to animal capture before the griffon attacks but I doubt it.

Ellimist during chat has pointed out I have spelt my capital wrong, it should be Yin not Ying. Will change once back in game, but it does bring up the question of what names we are going to give cities #2

Thanks for the suggestions, Ellimist. smile

I think I like Mind (malakim)/ Body (cala) for the next city. I 100% want to use Feast (cala) and Famine (mala), but not until the era of vampires has begun.

Regarding the actual game - you seem to be on the right track, Jkaen. I approve of training up the hunter and aiming to gather animal friends thumbsup If it turns out to be possible to get the Grand Menagerie, I'll be dancing! And of course, the more animals/barbs we kill off, the more safety we have for our settling and the more harassment we can expect to apply to our foes.

I will try to spend the time for a more comprehensive dotmap soon - I expect to be growing like a weed now that those darn archers are removed.
