Nudist Progression

I got in peoples' faces about Assassin night. I promoted it when I was online. I got people to sign up for it, to put their name on the dotted line -- enough to start a team. But precious few took the commitment seriously enough to show up regularily, or even post when they wouldn't be available.

Now admittedly, I'm not on GW every night. I can't promote something every day 'cause I'm not on every day. There are times when I'm not on more than once or twice a week. I don't know many of the other people in the alliance well. Maybe if I had spoken to more people personally about it, rather than making announcements on alliance chat, more people would have become interested in the idea. You seem to have more connections in the other guilds, Wyrm, and more time online in GW -- if you think that will make a difference, feel free to take the reins and I'll be happy to back you up.

Well, I meant you needed to do more of this:
Quote:Maybe if I had spoken to more people personally about it, rather than making announcements on alliance chat
I find that most people won't do anything without a personal invitation. Announcing over the forums and alliance chat are 1 thing, but they're the equivalent to taking an ad in the paper and sending out flyers.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that in order to get people for something like this you have to be a used car salesman.

That's frustrating, but unavoidable.

That does present a problem and, to be honest, I think is why Assassin night drifted away (unfortunately). When you start something, you're the driving force for it, and if you can't be around all the time (aside from the time/night it's running) keeping interest up then your high-speed train is going to turn into a moped. I think that if you had been able to be around more often and could play with Mac from ZoS a bit outside the Assassin night then you might have been able to get more ZoS people via him. Even something as simple as f-listing him and whispering him the night of to make sure he was going to be joining, rather than asking for him over alliance chat, might have been personal enough to keep him more motivated (although IIRC he had other issues of some sort). But yeah, if you don't have the time then there's not much you can do about that.

I can help you fix that if you want. I'm on good terms with a few people from the different guilds and if you want, the next time you're around, I can try and get some of them to come AB with us or something (or even just see if they can send someone our way) so you can at least spend time with them.

I can, but I'd rather not be the only person in the guild doing stuff like this. Once Nightfall starts getting closer, I probably will for the LoL (I swear, I had no idea it could abbreviate to that when I picked the name) variant since that's my idea, but I'd be just as comfortable showing up for someone else's variant (maybe moreso if I didn't have to be the one in charge).

What I found for D2 is that once we had a core of people who were interested in running a variant game, they tended to stick around from one variant to the next. This is more of a once-a-week thing than anything else. If we're doing AB (for instance) on Monday, whichever variant we're working on on Tuesday, and GvG on Wednesday, people won't want more scheduled activities than that anyhow.

So if you start LoL on Tues, and we get a regular group of folks coming to that, then that will be good enough from a start. If it's successful, things will get easier to keep Tues as Variant night and actually have people attending. Or so the theory goes. We did have a bunch of people out for Nudists, but then they lost interest in GW altogether for one reason or another. Hopefully we'll be able to avoid or offset that this time around.

So I'm guessing this means that nudists are no longer on pause, but the tape has been stopped and ejected, although ready to be put back in when there's enough interest in continuing?

Well, we still have a month until Nightfall, so what do we want to do in the meantime? We can try taking a team of 4 rits and 20+ spirits through the later parts of Prophecies ("A Ritualistic Intent" or something) just to have fun (although I guess we should move discussion of this to another topic since it's not about nudists).

Edit: I'm pretty sure no one's read this yet so there's no point in a new post. Anyways... the next part of the nudist story is up.

This update's highlight:
Quote:"This is wrong! You all shall face the Divine Punishment that awaits you in the Underworld!" said Arty.

"Huh?" said everyone else, including the undead.

A couple seconds later, there were huge chunks of molten rock falling from the sky and putting all sorts of hurt on the undead. It was a beautiful sight. Arty was at peace in that display of ravaging power and prevailing discourse.

"Oh," said everyone but the undead. They were saying stuff like "Oweee!" instead.

Whoa, I totally missed your last post, Wyrm! I'll have to go look at that story. smile

In other nudist news, I can now confirm that Spectral Agony while nude except for an undisplayed dragon hat is indeed painful. Probably too painful to be supportable if everyone were nude. But hey, who's that on the right?

WOOT! Hey that looks like a team of allies. Shame on you for not proudly displaying our cape ;p

I am getting the occassional days off now, but nothing regular to be in scheduled events. frown

It's only fair for me to say the Nudist is busted, at least for the time being, so you can all advance your nudist in the game. Since we are mostly all lvl20 by now, it shouldn't affect the Nudist game if we ever get enough people to play again. I hope we can get naked again in the future - in one form or another... and to see the journal up to date where we left off.

It's been fun!

I don't know how many people have noticed, but I've been trying to keep the nudist journal semi-accurate to what was happening with the team itself. Maybe not the most successful venture, but that's never-the-less the way I'm trying to do them. Unfortunately, I've just about hit a roadblock because, as I'm sure most people remember, when we got to Maguuma I had temporarily dropped out due to both not having a char (this was around the Factions preview when I deleted the nudist for that and then restarted as a necro) and not having the time for various reasons. I remember Divinity Coast for the most part, but from then until Riverside I'm pretty much a blank. I think for those, it'd be better for someone else to type up the journal and I can pick back up with Riverside and the several not-quite-successful attempts at Sanctum.
