[TECH] Civ 6 PBEM 11 (Mid-late May Start)

To keep this as spoiler-free as possible, I believe you're referring to blockading units during DoF. Looking from the outside I can see how this might kill fun and am willing to ban large-scale intentional blockading effective immediately. We're all here to have fun after all.

Quite honestly I don't like this "Oh the game is not going the way I want it so I'm dropping out"-attitude that seems to be spreading here. If everyone adopts it we won't have any games any longer.

Thanks, guys.

Yeah, the DoF block imo is kinda unfun to the other players, cheers for Cornflakes for understanding this.smile

@ Rowain:

I get your sentiment, but I think am okay to say "this is not fun to me, if you guys think it is, please play on without me".
Especially pointed at me, who stuck through some awful maulings and conquests this is a bit peculiar.

I'm pretty sure getting stomped by Sullla was no fun for you in PBEM 1 but still you played on then.
Do you think I enjoyed having a capital with no luxury (in PBEM 9)? In this games after some time (and sometimes even with a look at the starting location) you know there is no chance at all to win or have a lot of fun but the task is to finish what you started.

Again once you start you have an obligation to finish it (play until a clear winner is there). If there needs rules to be adapted we can (and should) discuss them afterwards and amend them for the next games.

While getting blocked (if that is the case here) is not being fun how else is someone going to save a CS he wants to keep alive? In our games those CS are just there to get conquered and save settlers. Perhaps we should play a game or 2 without any CS but that too is for aftergame discussion.

To be clear I am the recipient of cornflakes largess. If my opinion means anything I am also ok without the blocking.

Cockblocking CS by DoF is as silly.

Imo if we don´t stop it, DoFs will go out the window fast.

Somehow I did not get the normal e-mail that it was my turn. I actually have a bit of time this morning and will take it now. Sorry for the delay.

So what is the general rule on resignation? I am pretty thoroughly dead at this point and I doubt an AI would mismanage much of what I have left any worse than I would. I am happy to stay to the end if that is expected of me, but I also figure it might speed up the turns if I drop out.

I do not think it makes much of a difference at this point. And Pindicator set a precedent here. I am okay with it.

The general rule is to play to the bitter end. And believe me, the AI *can* do worse. That said, I can hardly complain as I've been the primary beneficiary of a resignation. If you guys who know how things look on the other continent are happy that it won't unbalance things (or indeed might rebalance things), I've certainly got no problem with it.
