There's a high change Wang Kon and Mao will share religion... if only Mao cared about it one little bit!
Civ4 AI Survivor: Season Four

Lots of crazy things in the wild card game.
![]() I missed the reason for removing the palace of the second observer civ. Can someone explain that? Or point me to the explanation, I am sure it was discussed before. Thanks!
Yes, it was a pretty crazy wildcard game today indeed! You'll never guess who captured the first city in this game, and I won't spoil the details in this post. haphazard: we remove the palace because it removes the innate 8 commerce/turn from the AI observer civ, and that stops Sitting Bull AI from ever founding a religion or landing a first-to-discover tech bonus. Good question!

I made an accidentally prophetic post about Isabella winning her crusades and she did. In this exact same thread I mentioned a certain terrible, terrible leader dying in my AI team game to barbs.

Travelling on a mote of dust, suspended in a sunbeam.
Thanks to Sullla and Brian Shanahan for the explanation of removing the palace for the second observer civ.

Having just finished with the last Opening Round game, I'd like to request that the seeded leaders mechanic be dropped for the next season. It was interesting at first as we had several games where the 'weaker' leaders were able to gang up and trounce the high-seed leaders, but later on we had three different opening round games where the top-seeded leader got out to an early lead and rode on that to a quick and not very interesting victory. There wasn't any comment on it during the stream, but Stalin was in such a situation to start with in Game Eight, up over 100 points on Ramesses. It would have taken a major break of luck, or maybe a dogpile, to take Stalin out already by that time. After the elimination of Ramesses I skipped watching the rest of the game since the Stalin victory was clear and went to read exactly what had happened.
Also, I appreciate that you're trying to pretty up the main season page, Sullla, but having the big gallery of leaders participating in the playoff games makes the page a bit of a hazard for those who haven't finished with the earlier rounds yet... A really easy fix for that would have it be a clickable "spoiler", or even a scrollover. Blank boxes unless you trigger it.
The seeded leaders setup didn't stop Isabella, Tokugawa, and Darius winning their respective opening round games while Catherine, Cyrus, Pacal, and Mansa Musa were all eliminated. In some games the pregame favorites won and in some games they didn't, much like our other past seasons. I like the mechanic and I think it's been pretty successful thus far. I mean, Stalin won Game Eight because Pericles decided to attack his fellow high peaceweight leader Lincoln, not because of the pregame seeding system. And if you look back at the first three seasons of AI Survivor, there were a lot of stomps there where a leader got out in front of the rest of the field and snowballed from there.
Let me see if I can add a spoiler warning to the main Season Four Survivor page to give notice about the entrants in the playoff round. Thanks for the suggestions.
I thought the AP cheese was hilarious, but I'm a coward who doesn't fill in any predictions. Someone in the chat asked about a Raging Barbs season. Maybe that would give the protective leaders a chance to shine, but I have a feeling that you don't want even more randomness...
And for some reason, I kept mishearing "Mao" as "Mal" even though I didn't watch Firefly recently ![]() |
