[spoilers] - pindicator is excited for the next Realms Beyond league mechanics

Civ 4 city names are limited to 15 characters but it looks like I could condense the names and still make them be understandable. I'm a little surprised that there are only 8 titled expansions though. But I do think that's a natural add-on after league names.

Looks like there are 26 unique maps. That would certainly be an idea for after we run out of expansions. I'm starting to like expansions now; before I just assumed that the names would be too long but it looks like I can condense the names down without it being undecipherable.

Are you both still playing the league? I went with glacial hammer Inquisitor for a 2nd char, and while I'm playing less this one is definitely stronger than the ice shot deadeye I started with. Up to level 89 and just starting into red maps. But I'm not sure how much longer this one will go.

I started with a homebrew ignite build, but I screwed up its defenses, so I got burned out quickly. Recently got back into the league with a pestilent strike build from the internet, which is doing much better, unsurprisingly. lol I've never made an ice shot character I'm happy with, but I keep trying because it's just the coolest skill.

I guess I should add Civ talk. You mention you're worried about your crop slipping, but it looks like you're still #2 in land area. Think that will slip too or will that remain solid?

AT took my peace offer and hopefully that ends the tensions between us.

Out west, Perandus had its borders pop and now with the chop finishing the lighthouse and first of two work boats hooking up the clams, this city should hopefully start taking off in growth.  I think I want a few more units out of here next as it grows:  then eventually either Perandus or Torment will get the next settler out for grabbing the two spots left in this corner of the world. The workers out here will probably stay on their respective islands and plant workshops everywhere. Doubt I'll need any additional workers here: these two should even be able to cover the new cities as there will be minimal work required for each spot.

Continued to settle more cities:

With Bestiary settled there's just one more mainland spot to settle and that will be happening next turn. (Well, there may be one more filler actually...)

The real trick out here and for new cities in general continues to be border pops. Missionaries are not the answer because they take too long and I'm limited to 3. Perhaps if I had planned out micro for them better and had Org Rel to decrease travel time. I've already built 2 monasteries on the mainland and I plan on building just 1 more at the capital: after that it's going to just have to be a slow slog to convert all my cities, so I don't think I can rely on them for expansion. Here and there I certainly will be able to provide a missionary the turn I settle, but I can't rely on it everywhere right now.

Calendar would be nice. GKC canceled my gold for gems deal, so I offered Mouseferatu back my Gems and Stone for his Silver and 8gpt. He has another Silver that he should be able to hook up in less than 10 turns so this should be a good deal for him if he still needs the stone.

Unfortunately Gemling Island is looking less appealing: there's a considerable lack of food. But that seems to be a common theme this game. I'll just have to prioritize the good spots first, and hopefully bring enough defenders. I think some horse archers will need to be stationed down there.

I see a filler spot NEE from Abyss that lets you work an extra desert hill, does that count mischief? Not sure if ir could ever pay for the settler cost

Oh yes, there are more filler spots than just one I realized after posting that. There are also a couple small islands I've skipped over but plan on back-filling shortly after Gemling is staked out. And while that desert hill by Abyss may not pay for itself I could put a city on the jungle grass tile by the Fish to work a few coast tiles. That probably will be worth it after Mercantilism comes in.

Miguelito, I found 2 well-rolled Hyoan's Fury swords and the wheels started turning. I know it's not a great weapon but I'm going to make a meme build: DW ranger EDIT: raider and stack frenzy charges. Just trying to decide on the main skill for it now. Leaning static strike

Turn 126

My missionaries must be awful

Every time I've tried to send one that I've built to a city that already has an established religion they've failed. I'm just throwing away hammers at this point here.

Meanwhile, OH's missionaries have switched over to the four-legged variety:

And with him also having one out of his capital this turn, I'm really glad that I have horse archers and got them when I did. As it is I wouldn't be surprised if he masses up to go after Elkad here. But I am going to need more horse archers myself: 6-10 for the mainland and another 2-4 for Gemling island. I might need to send the first few south, too, because GKC has found Gemling Island:

And now he knows that I am on it.
Because of this, I re-routed a settler that I was going to use to grab the east coast of the mainland. I really need 3 settlers along with defenders, said horse archers, and a couple of triremes all down there as soon as possible now. So even a bigger priority now, if such a thing is possible. If that means OH gets to have the island between us in the east then so be it.

Turned on the research this turn and I'm going to brag a little, even though as I noted before GNP stat is volatile:

I think Krill is in a golden age right now. Possibly others. But it really doesn't mean a ton right now.

Yes, I was talking about that jungle grassland spot, the desert hill should actually be illegal to settle on? What I meant was that the desert hill is the one tile you get that can't be worked by other cities wink

I found this so interesting that I made a tree for a trickster: www.poeurl.com/cJdX
premises: Avoid physical damage nodes, rather pick up the lightning nodes on the top of the tree, hence go for CI while at it. Should work best for cyclone or blade flurry, but any other skill as well i suppose? You just need some channeling skill to get up charges before boss fights. But maybe it's not really that smart, as the swords have low crit and also the physical damage proportion is greater than I remembered.

Raider is fun, I'm still having lots of it with mine smile . Missing my last uberlab trial still, but I plan to use one of the nodes for frenzy charges and onslaught each, besides avatar of the veil, that may be unconventional.
Just now entering yellow maps, as I reinstalled Civ... I died a ton to metamorphs in the campaign (also to Oversoul and Gravicius :rolleyessmile, but lately I seem to do better, have they been nerfed or is my char more mature?

Also can't comment too much on Civ as I'm very spoiled but I'm enjoying the reports a lot and rooting for you smile

So I just dropped a six linked quill rain from a metamorph. What do I do with that? Meta appears to be explosive arrow ballistae, but I'm not really themed for totems...?

Moai is finally done!

We're pausing briefly to get a settler out here but afterwards the plan is to keep growing: we want to be growing into unhappiness right as the next golden age comes in and then we're able to swap into Hereditary Rule. I could also start a forge here next. But I think I really want to get units, units, and more units right now. Anything that isn't building the most basic of growth infrastructure needs to be spamming horse archers, navy, or civilian units.

And with hitting size 14, Anarchy has finally been recognized as one of the top cities

I took another look at golden age projections, as my science is growing at a fantastic rate. Right now I'm making 200bpt breakeven, and I have a lot of room for growth still. With Machinery finishing in 2 turns I'll have about 180g left in the bank. That should mean 4 turns to tech Feudalism. Then Guilds will be the tough one: I think 8. Banking in 6. However! Assuming that a golden age will bump us up to 300bpt breakeven then I think that means .... that we want to trigger the golden age when we're halfway through Guilds. Which means I want the trigger the GA in 9-10 turns?

Is it really so soon!?

Economy is doing great: I really need to spam units now. Maybe a barracks or two. But really, it's going to be time for knights before I know it ... and hopefully before my neighbors are ready for them!
