What IS the plan to get to your UU? After calendar?
You'll know when I know
. I'm debating still. I'm unconvinced I even need it right now to further my lead. Also, why is your F1 avatar no longer displaying for me? Given up on it given how boring it's gotten (last few laps aside)?
The way I'm looking at things currently is I need Horse Archers and my ultra-cheap walls to make myself sufficiently prickly. I'm maybe a bit more concerned about dogpile potential than normal due to the addition of the Declare War On feature in this mod. I think it's one of the most important changes, but it works against me when I'm in a strong position. Horse Archers are needed because my land is so long. It would take a one mover ~10T to walk from one end to the other right now were a surprise attack to happen. The good news is Horse Archers can be used offensively too. My preference at this point is to be opportunistic for a bit. For example, if AT decides not to defend his Stonehenge city (and power rating suggests he isn't right now), I can just
take it now with HAs and come back and finish him off at Machinery and/or Guilds. Or if he's sufficiently asleep at the wheel, I keep going. Taking that city would get me up to around 14 cities, and he would have around 5. If I check and it's full of Spears, that's fine. I can wait. Kneecapping one of my top competitors is also an option. The more I've thought about it, the tight map pushes towards short frequent wars of minor gains rather than an extended invasion.
I'm thinking right now on what to make of the diplomatic situation. Cornflakes has rejected my Open Borders in the past, but maybe he feels differently now that he has GLH and would benefit from them more than me. Maybe I offer to fund him against TBS by offering resources/money in exchange for Declare War On? Maybe I offer to split AT with Commodore using the same method, further insulating us from a possible TBS comeback?
