Definitely would do the avoid growth thing at Cumae. The excess food is very high. Trade 7 food for 2 gold, I think that has an easy answer even if we are still recovering economically (glad to see the silverfish settler in place to found next turn !)

It will probably lead to future gold from earlier growth anyways. Settler and a worker improving the silver right away thank you very much. I estimate it is going to take about 100gold to get through writing fyi and I actually have some income now..... You can see Van warrior moving up? Also, see spear that I randomly had selected and moved down south.... clear missclick, but not going to ask for reload. I also figured out it doesn't matter when that cow is improved per se as neither city will have pop to work it, so going ahead with roading atm and will analyze next turn.
I'll show southern section soon, but
1) I found all the hills
2) Civac has a forested beaver!!! WTF Also he is up to 8 cities

Question btw. Anyone see an issue with double moving my scout* through ruff via declare war? I actually fell asleep right after my kids last night so didn't get to play before him. In a very rare occurrence ruff isn't playing last this turn. I mainly don't want to wait endlessly next turn /shrug. He could kill my scout, but he has shown no signs that he would and we have a fish for clam trade going.

I actually went back in and changed Rome to a settler for the 'clam 'cow site' It is more efficient with the southern worker. The main downside is that workboat will be 1 turn behind. I can still change order next turn if you disagree / once I've thought about more. This leaves me with more options anyways.

So it looks like once again I'm second half in a settling war with Vanrober. I think this time it just isn't in my head (I think I was a turn or two ahead on the last one). Van just two pop whipped this turn EDIT(you can also see working roading in addition to the bug 'bug' that tells you how many turns improvement is). Now if it was literally any of his 3 nearest cities that aren't the new one, the timing is actually the same. Assuming he doesn't have a road on the forest NW of the sheep he steps onto it T69 and settles T70. For some reason I thought I could settle T69 in my prior screenshots, but turns out I'm just crazy and it is also T70....... Obviously I'll be half a turn late. The obvious solution is to settle 1S of corn / 1E of horse on T69. It strands the clam and it is worse long term, but is actually better short term. City is slightly safer as it is farther away although no across a river. I probably will have to whip the axe in neapolis though sooner than intended. My scout going through ruff did not see Van's main "stack". Luckily a couple of axes should do the trick against what I saw atm.
BTW Civac totally pinned Cairo down south. This map shape was just a bad bad idea. Will be interested how it played out elsewhere. Point being I whipped Rome settle and hope Cairo isn't declaring this turn because spear does not have fortify bonus because again missclick last turn..... He should in theory be way more upset about Civac though. Also Civac is running just as light as I am on the border cities I have seen. He may have units behind them and sadly they aren't forkable because that area of the world actually has hills.....

Left some instructions. I'm going to try to connect using my phone as a hot spot, but historically have gotten jack for connection up there. EDIT: I'll post if I can connect or not.
NOTE***** I missed that ruff and Van made peace because it said with Chumchu and I just totally glossed over it. This was two turns ago. This means I could face the entire (such as it is) Van stack on T70. It also explains why Ruff stopped camping the turn timer.
Implications - definitely settle the 'safe settle' spot. I'm pretty sure this was required due to settling race anyways. Going to have to whip the axe from Neapolis T68 in order to get it to Ravenna in time because we have to play after Van due to likely settling race (even if I'm pretty sure I'm going to win by 1 turn); plus van has been on top of playing early in the turn so need the axe there if he brings everything. May be an overreaction because soonest he can actually hit Ravenna would be T71 the turn the next axe pops there, but rather safe than sorry. Even if he brings everything I've seen I doubt it breaks 3 axes.
I also forgot to mention Civac declared vs Jowy. Hoping it is just a scout war like mine, but Civacs power has spiked.

I mean map shape is favoring me as well soooo. I'm not saying cairo has played perfectly, but I don't know full story down south either. But I do wonder how many inner people are getting squeezed.

-So obviously in the north the food heavily favors me. It is all on my side of the river. The only food closer to him than me is the wheat by 1 tile.
-In the south the sign you can't see due to icon says "forested beaver wtf". Now Civac actually has less economic traits than I do at this stage (aggressive has been saving 1 or 2 gold), but his GNP has been a little higher. I can only imagine fun things like forested beaver, riverside cow, riverside corn have helped. I've settled soooo many dry corns and have lovely jungle beaver x2. A
-You can see more hills in two rows worth of tiles than my entire eventual empire.
-So obviously those two cities pin Cairo pretty bad, but I do have to wonder how far away Civac is and question Cairo's settling order here. He settled 3rd city to claim horse up by me, but he hasn't used it yet as far as I can tell offensively. Could he have beaten Civac to one of the hills NE of either corn or cow for his 3rd city? Again there are hills so it makes more sense to make a contested settle down here than put a filler city your northern opponent is never going to contest or if he does is on flat ground.

Played right before I left. I didn't have time to update signs, so only have T69. Will let you know in 10 hrs if I can connect or not hopefully.
Feel free to log in.
Van knows situation up north maybe. I have a sign for northern axe, but wondering about where his worker goes. He obviously could road to Ravenna which is why I whipped the axe this turn, but if worker continues NW I think leave that axe where it is.
Offered peace to ruff; met Amica. Feel free to open borders with anyone who isn't within 2 of me and gets writing besides Noble.

logged in briefly to see if I'd have any questions. In case I don't see van's settler on that forest next turn, should I still proceed with safe settle and murder the poor crab?
