Is unit gifting banned? If luddite gifted scooter a galley loaded with artillery, would it get +1 move from circumnavigation immediately? Otherwise, looks like Oxy might have this with their timing attack.
Funny that Scooter thinks he's a few turns from conceding, while Luddite's spirits are up now and he's wondering about how to get back into contention.
Although that island evacuation move might be Scooter's third game-saving tactical swing, after the two razes of Yuris's cities that each would have produced several more phracts in that war timeframe. Looks increasingly possible for him to hold out to Military Science and turn the tide with that, and grenadiers might also be enough to hold out against Luddite's artillery as well.
And Oxy forgot the ships. Scounting NE of his island and/or blocking the strait to his capital.
I think the cap is covered with enough 2 units, but it's still possible for scooter to raze the city from the fog.
Xist, you shouldn't make suggestions like that if you're not a dedlurker. In fact, I think you should delete it.
You're allowed to cheerlead, but proactively suggesting things he might not have thought of? Crosses the line.

???
What do you mean ? I deleted the relevant part, but I still think this is not really wrong. Scooter had the plan first and then I corrected a wrong idea. Maybe huge differences between the lurker culture, but I thought I was allowed to correct wrong informations ? Also player A doesn’t built wonder B isn’t a information I‘m allowed to correct, but galeons have a movement of 2 is allowed.
Yes exactly. He didn't ask a mechanical question about what tiles he could be seen on. He believed there was no way to do it without being seen - I.e. he had considered and discarded a tactical play. And then you suggested a way for him to carry out said tactic.
Importantly, you did it in the context of having seen things that Scooter couldn't know - that Oxy doesn't have ships positioned to prevent this move. (I'm not sure of the sequencing - maybe you hadn't seen that yet. But regardless, you're privy to information that could concievably alter the relative strength of the play, which Scooter doesn't have access to.)

So I've done a fair bit of reading of the german civforums and Xist's commentary is perfectly in line with their norms. Here at RB the culture is a little more insulated (no outside suggestions from non-dedlurkers)
Or rather suggestions should be limited to game mechanics rather than strategic goals, which is I think what Xist was getting at by discussing ship movement.

Have to say, I love to watch the game, probably even more fun than playing it - with oxy and scooter having a proper 15th/16th/17th century war, and luddite being extremely far behind, but having now (finally) won his war and having lots of potential..
If oxy can't win the war (and his economy is really running a tight ship, keeping it afloat right now from the plunder/race gold) and still need to pay the upkeep for those units, his tech is stuck for a very long time. If scooter is taking more of a beating, his economy eventually will also be somewhat limited.. what looked like oxy winning this easily (scooter being busy with Yuri, luddite with Mr. Cairo) due to having massive prod and high-tech, suddenly turned into a free for all. I really want that war to stalemate for a very long time, meaning oxy to burn some more of scooters city but failing to completely overwhelm him, while luddite plays the catch up game somehow.. regarding xist10: As I'm originating from the German Civforum as well, I can understand both sides. And since we're here on RB, I'm trying to refrain myself from commenting in players thread more than some generic support / showing interest.
I dont understand why Oxy is going back onto the island instead of threatening other core cities, with mobility advantage would he not be able to force a favorable concentration somewhere?
Like what does that Island give? it seems expendable Also if Oxy can't crack a full stack on stack now at the gates of the Heroic Epic city, he'll probably have to turn the tech tap back on. Eat an anarchy turn or build wealth. Unless he can continue to outproduce for the remaining ~15 turns he has before SoL roll out
