Nauf signed peace with Mjmd. Zulu hasnt railroaded towards any Mjmd city for me, Civac is helpless against Mjmd, Someone call it. Zulu has 0 chance. None. He can think he has a chance, but he is literally prolonging the game. Lets get the game over with, and then he can be given the save
Either way im dead next turn. ALLL my commando's i made over the last 40t are going to waste. Fucking lovely. I still dont think i will sign up for another game that allows nukes without them being nerfed harder or something. They just arent needed. Too much of a win-button. First to get there can nuke their close rival into non-status and anyone else is basically next up on the chopping block. Obviously Mjmd had the likely perfect combo to get them out quickly.. Which further proves my point that they are broken atm.
Also doesnt help that i was the only one this entire game that saw Mjmd as a long term threat. Maybe ginger/civac? Dunno. Probably too much self-hate/game hate for my post to garner any sympathy.. but man. My game had a hell of an up and down. I got into a Gavagai war (thats what im going to start calling them), then made a tactical error that gave him a stalemate/sorta win. THEN i got betrayed by Nauf, and then Mjmd joined in to force me to give up a strategic city/2. THEN i beat back Nauf and take 2 of his cities plus my 2 cities back. THEN in order to get back in friendly relations with him, i give them back AND HE DOESNT GIVE OPEN BORDERS THE REST OF THE GAME. Anyway, i then beat the piss out of Gav in the Gavagai war 2.0, and Mjmd basically takes all the spoils when Scooter takes over. Meanwhile GT got split between Nauf/zulu with zulu getting most of the spoils iirc, Dreylin/greenline fell to Ginger/Zulu, with Zulu making what i think was a fatal error in not giving Ginger/civac any room to go Anywhere but THRU them. MEANWHILE, i still have to keep a garrison on both sides of my stupidly long empire as i now have Nauf ahead of me in tech, and Mjmd flying thru the tech tree.
I really wish i could have done things better. I did notice a couple things i fucked up, but honestly? I dont know if my position was winnable after the 3-way punch i got. Especially with no one caring that Mjmd had all the wonders+ 2 civs worth of land with no military.
Yes im going to be salty about this one.
No im not going to hold grudges.
Yes i think zulu made some absolutely weird decisions this game.
Yes i think Mjmd played his cards right and pulled a hell of a political trick to get into his position. He does deserve the win for that, despite me thinking that its bullshit. lol.
In closing, Thanks for all the "help" my fellow players. Next time, try and dogpile the runaway before he gets nukes/AT ALL.

Forgot to take a screenshot... but i have successfully captured a Mjmd city. Considering he got my final city down to 1 archer... I CALL THIS A SUCCESSFUL WAR!
I dont think he has enough tanks/workers in the area to capture this coming turn.. so i get to live/feel more pain again.

hey SD! sorry for keeping the game going as long as i did. and more specifically, sorry for not joining the dogpile in time for it to matter - at the time all i had were big rifle/cav stacks and very little production, so i had to choose between industrializing and teching to units that could actually hurt india, or joining the 4v1. unfortunately, i had 3 border cities that mjmd could annihilate on the first turn of the war thanks to fast workers, and more that he could take quickly with transports due to naval superiority, and i didn't think i could do enough damage to offset the cost of them getting (and me losing) 5+ cities in the south. so i chose to industrialize and, well, that didn't work either not sure what the right timing for it was, but clearly i should have intervened sooner than was my plan, at least in some capacity - sorry for letting you down

as for this, this was kinda a product of desperation lol..... at the time, gingac was the runaway and looked poised to roll right on through greenline after conquering dreylin and force concessions right there in the late renaissance era. so, if i couldn't beat them militarily (and i didn't think i could, they had a cuir > knight edge vs me for a while and were researching cavs when i got cuirs)..... the only OTHER way to prevent that was, um, to remove greenline might still have been a fatal error (and indeed, as expected my hands were totally tied geopolitically for the whole rest of the game by the hostile ottomans breathing down my neck) but it did at least solve the immediate objective of preventing the ottomans from winning the game, which was kinda my #1 priority at that moment

It's always good to see some maneuver warfare in Civ4, so looking forward to seeing how this turns out. I did something similar with cuir's in PB58.
offhand i can only recall 3 other times i did anything similar to this. One time when i hit... Nauf? with HA's thru his neighbor and razed... 2? cities. (pb44?45? whatever one i was playing i think Khmer and did donald trump jokes)
heh, was scrolling through your thread and noticed this... apparently nauf remembers too

Current builds, prepping for what could be a long slog of a war with Gavagai. He has been building more and more HA's, and has them much closer to myself than mjmd. Mjmd and him also have a fish/fish, AND mjmd hasnt even RESPONDED to any of my "hey, lets maybe work something out between us, and Gavagai" kinda stuff. Nothing. Id let him get 90% of the spoils. I just want the other 3 cities ish near my current ones. Id raze/replant one for sure.
Ya I was really really weak so I didn't want to help someone leading get more land / then be next to said person responsible for my own defense. I also just literally couldn't build an army very well which was part of the calculus both for attacking at that moment and future defense. I know you complained about me not doing anything against him multiple times despite his early war with me and this is why.

One where i basically sent a shitload of WC's via boat to go and raze... Mjmds(?) capital.
And my favorite, sending Commando Cavalry/knights ect to raze a bunch of cities in pb48
Ya that was me...... PB62; good caravel war times.

Just doing a little vulturing /shrug. But ya being in a 3v1 war I can understand why you were a little emotional. You hadn't controlled this city very long, but it seems like you were intent on retaking this region. I think if you had sent 1/2 of the forces you sent to retake this later when I was invading Gav/Scooter I couldn't have done it.
I did appreciate all the war reporting.
Good job razing the Buddhist Holy City.
I think the lurker thread mentioned someone complaining Machine Guns weren't good enough while you think they are too good. They are fine. They are off the assembly line path which is usually better, but are still very far down the tech tree and can only defend. They also are outclassed pretty fast afterwards.

What you wanted this food graph?
Because of the map script the people at the ends had the better land. Seriously GT and I had the worst land on the map. I was saved by a lake, but I would have traded in a heartbeat for an end slot. You got got SOOO much green and floodplains. I had 1 grassland river tile outside my capital until I took the floodplain city from you that was Gavs. I basically had to not whip and grow by +2f then +1f at a time across my entire empire over a hundred turns to be relevant. And the nice thing about starting at or near an end is you could conquer into more green as you did with Rickety and as Ginger did with Dreylin. While the lake helped me it also meant I couldn't go after Greenline and could only expand to the 3rd lowest food on the map, eventually, you know once I painstakingly grew my cities to actually be productive. Like ya I got to play sim city due to a combination of factors (including deciding to not attack Gav forever), but LOOK at my land and tell me that is the ideal land to sim city with.

The food was good, but the ability to defend (LONG distances) really shafted me. It was from my view, far easier to have a condensed empire like all those in the center.
My main gripe all game was fairly simple: 1. Gavagai deciding he would rather fight me over land i claimed than any other option.. 2. No one else but me wanting to try and reign you in for 150+ turns. (also 3. Zulu spending 1500+ ep into me, and staying at basically neutral with you)
Alot of highs/lows from this pb. Im torn whether i liked it or not.

Honest question: Have you considered that your game position might have affected how other players treated you?

Yes. However, i was never in the position to really capitalize on anything. I was STRETCHED. I may have had a food lead, but cant do anything with that except whip when Gavagai is in forever-war-mode, and then Nauf betrays.
Also, "game position might have affected how other players treat you" wasnt used against Mjmd with Zulu.
I tried to get something out of my start, found a really really easy conquest in ricky, made some mistakes, got declared on, got betrayed.
I really want PB's to start off fresh. Too many grudges/instant judgements= not allowed to change it feels like. idk.
