Hmm... I'm not sure that's a good idea. They may balk at having to pay and we'd end up losing out. I feel like paying for trade routes is a later game thing? I could be wrong.

T83: Going to try to beat Khan to the Eastern X...
A wider view: Yes, it's a pink dot given the distance from our capitals but since he's delayed so long that's his own fault.
On a hill, has pigs. As long as you've got workers to get a road there asap and a few units for defense, I'd say you could hold it. Looks like Currency is going to be tight, though.

So a general update for any lurkers reading:
DTG is in the cities, and MFG + CY lead and given his superior skills is most likely to win. We're in second place, and our short-term plan is to expand like mad and hope no one tries to call us on the farmer's gambit, followed by eating LT in medieval times. But that'll be tricky since our borders are screwed up and we should have at least ~ 10 border cities to defend. So really our best hope is for DTG to quit over Khan's PYFT issues.
We live in interesting times:
His forces: 2 axes and an unknown number of reinforcements. Impis are expected and will be annoying. Ours: 2 Axes, 1 chariot, 1 spear, and 2 scouts that will be annoying expendable recon. Neither of us wants war, but we both want that city site. Let's see who's willing to give up more for it.
Guess it depends if Khan is going to the "X" too, but you could have declared war to keep the Workers from going to that hill. Of course, you said you didn't want war. I say, burn them all to the ground.

But at most it's a delay for 1T (which could of course be critical). Quote: Of course, you said you didn't want war.
