Oh, dear. Sorceress...
A sorceress is often a RULER, possibly even a QUEEN. Any self-respecting sorceress knows how to FLY, in a DRESS, to and from her secluded TOWER. She might have a LAB, from which a RACKET emits at NIGHT.

And we're only supposed to pick three? Uh...I guess I'd be learning toward a priority order something like:
FLY
TOWER
DRESS
QUEEN
RULER
LAB

and call Racket and Night too much of a stretch. They're more vampire things anyway. Lab is probably a stretch, too - wizards and witches experiment, Sorceresses just do their stuff directly.

We have to include at least one of Queen and Dress, otherwise DaveV would have just said Sorcerer.

Hmm, the choice of Sorceress over Witch or Empress has to critical here. I'm thinking TOWER, FLY, and DRESS.

For sorceress, I think queen, ruler, dress, and hood are good candidate words. Queen and dress should be preferred out of those, since the word hints at a female gender. At the next tier of candidates I'd put fly, lab, night, and flute.

Any other meanings of sorceress to consider? Any kind of computer game reference or something?

I'm drawn towards hood as a very sorceress-ish word. But then the third word almost has to be queen, or the female gender becomes a bit superfluous. And even if dress is one of the words, queen seems like a likely third word. So pointing to queen might be the best play.
