Triremes are way to nowhere in general. If we are not taking that city by surprise we will never take it. OH will be ready to common 2-moves galleys, but my thought was that even with 3-moves we can unload from the darkness. Later on 4-movers make logistics and defending island much easier.

Here is island overview:
Old Harry offered fish to fish deal. I declined, but may be we need to reoffer it if we do not want direct conflict. May be island can suit us both for a moment. He is showing us a couple of immortals. Bluffing? GJ is dancing around with settler. I think he forgot that he couldnt plant on that hill on the diagonal from his city. We see all graphs: But not much interesting things I can say about them. Somebody has 200 GNP already, but this is from demos...
I'd love to hear your opinion about fish for fish deal. I have some concerns that we should open 2nd front. May be stupid at this moment.
I guess the war with DZ is for passage with fishing boat or something.
Do you think that we could win a war on the northern front? I think not. The question is then: Does OH gain more from peace than us? + He is imperialist and could outgrow us. + His economy should probably be more mature than ours and better able to sustain war. + We have promo advantage. - We probably have more pressing use for the hammers put into units. Settlers, workers, forges, lighthouses - We are still in an economy crunch - We will have a better edge if we wait for Numids - We risk a coordinated attack from GJ and OH

So you dont have enough reasoning for war as I can see. I dont think that in game with 20+ players OH can outgrow us seriously.
Right now we cant hope to get anything from this war except that small island city which does not worth that especially before currency. But we get another neighbor who will never again give us peace.
OH didnt accept fish to fish or return. Is it bad?
He definitely saw a trireme and how I turned it back, hopefully he has the same feeling that it is not good time to enter direct confrontation. The problem is that I put 2 workers on the island to mine cooper before I realised that their offer might have expired. Though only 1 or may be 2 turns passed from it. Well lets see if they are trustworthy... GJ killed our sentry warrior from galley, so he is about to plant city on island I believe. If I am not wrong in timing we can reach it with 4 moving galleys right when it grows to 2 and capture it. Next turn we turn on science to tech HBR. Last turn I checked noone from our neighbors had this tech.
Don't know. Better be cautious at least. That might be what he wants, to make us worry a bit and slow us down. However the risk from the alternativ is to big.,
It's better to focus on the enemy at hand. Taking the island city should help our economy. We should be prepared for an all out war from GJ considering how close we are to his capital and how bad his chances look in a peaceful game. Numid time =). After that we need currency to sustain expansion.

Horseback riding in 4 turns. Noone from our small neighborhood has got it so far. Talking about neigborhood we have met 2metraninja: He has got 11 cities, strange that his score is so low... we've got 9, OH - 10, Elkad - 8, WilliamLP - 10, Donovan - 10, Joey - 10 too I pulled 1 worker from cooper and put 2 axes to the galley so if OH is not going to keep peace it will probably cost us just 1 worker. However I am pulling most of defenders down so we are not really well prepared to well-thought invasion. Those pigs and stone to the east are already hooked, so we are late. Elkad has got currency. Situation on the south border and front. I want to move our next settler to that deer near the coast. Gj has already got island city because fish is hooked. Our demos:
We can attack GJ's island in 4 turns depending on what he has there and how can we get rid of his galley and possible sentries. There are many things which can go wrong there but in general I feel optimistic about this operation.
But our own island will be unprotected. We will be unable to excort those 2 workers out in case of emergency. May be we should try to war/peace with OH again to have guaranteed peace? |
