But was it overexcitement? How favorable is the worker-turn : pillage-gold conversion ratio for you at the moment? I think that eventually you must reach the point where you would build improvements just to pillage them if you could, right?
Digression...

Oh, and don't think we missed that captured cottage being worked two tiles south of Regret, mister. . You better have changed that tile assignment before the turn rolled!

It's an interesting question. I think it was worth it for the more expensive improvements, but not for the super cheap ones (1 gold for a quarry? Tell him he's dreaming). But yeah, the gold is hugely helpful right now, 100 gold is a turn of savings.
It was a false alarm, I promise! That's Lenin, which is still in resistance.

We whip our way from Ginger-tier back down to Naufragar-tier on the scoreboard.
(They're just bazaars, it's not that exciting).

Anyone who's dedlurked me knows that I spend way too long agonising about how to defend my captured cities from the defenders, or vultures. Vanrober used to go nuts daily in PB60 when I kept overthinking things in the Lazteuq war. Well, this is why:
Nauf's about to snowball completely out of control, through taking Gavagai's land at virtually no cost (he really shouldn't be getting away with the tiny stacks he's using, but such is life). Luckily, it seems he forgot to defend his new holdings. We can't do too much damage, but at least we can punish it a little; Kruschev is the nicest city Nauf took from the Ethiopians. Well, was - it's a burnt ruin now.

Possibly. I value peace greater than war currently, so I've offered Naufragar that this turn. If he accepts, that's 10 safe turns longer to improve our position. If not, I have a few other ideas on how we can damage him. However, full-scale invasion is likely off the cards, as his stack probably(?) beats mine if he gets to use his catapults, and with some effort he could also possibly retake Fever Dream. If I have miscalculated this, then it was a mistake to offer peace and I should instead have moved on Alexander III (which I could still do next turn, I just don't have time to sim it ), but I suspect I haven't. Another long-term win from this war, even if Naufragar signs peace here, is that he should also lose a decent amount (17-ish commerce?) of trade routes from our open borders.
However, with all these easy Gav-conquests, there is now the long-term problem that Naufragar may outscale me. I'm not sure what to do about that, other than what I already have, assuming I can't currently invade. Dilemma dilemma...

Mechanics question: would I be able to see an aqueduct in a city if the city tile has been within the fog of war (city is visible but not the units inside) since the aqueduct was built? Or does that only refresh on when you re-scout the city? I have in my head that it's the former, but I figure I should check before I make any assumptions.

Hah, I'm glad you appreciated the change. I've been wanting to make an avatar for ages, and just never got around to it.
No answer for my (perhaps very obvious) mechanics question?
