sooooo Wrote:Hello,
I haven't read all of your thread but I have a few questions:
1) Are you regretting your choice of civ/leader? Would you now have preferred to be Louis? Or French? (heh, I know ...)
2) Why are you calling your 2nd city Reading?
EDIT: Asked to remove no.3 by game admin
1) Yes. It isn't a terrible, since if we really do have tons of land our IB is pretty good and we can defend using Impis over a wide front, but it's definitely not ideal.
2) No idea. Regoarrarr picked the scheme.
3) (thanks for quoting regoarrarr, I have no idea how what I posted publicly in the IT thread is a spoiler) Yes, I know him via the RaY MP clan for many years.

Regoarrarr's reply only quoted the non-spoilerish portion of question 3. There was originally a bit more to the question.

Turn 40 has rolled and I played but did not end turn.
Mackoti was in game and I logged in to try and chase him up via chat but he did not respond in game.
I'm probably just being paranoid but they also still have not replied to our email from the weekend.
I emailed them again explaining how to chat in MP / PB. Maybe it's the case that they wanted to wait until we "officially" met again (after the reload) before responding.
Also we are now losing 1 gpt due to unit supply with the worker being moved out of Vine's borders.

T40 replayed and T41 played. Still no word from mackoti / ioan76.
2 score increases on T41 - 2 pop growths for luddite (now at sizes 5 and 3 !!) and a tech for mackoti / ioan76. The techs are becoming pretty impossible to track - they just got a tech 5 turns ago, which means they must have been swapping off from something.
I think we can't rule out them going after Sailing / Masonry / GLH

Macedon is responsible with map-sharing information for the moment.
We came faaar from your East - probably at least 1/4 of map separate us so no need for Zulu people to be paranoid - that scout is alone ... no task force came after it.
For the moment we reseach Pottery because we plan to expand a little bit our empire and several cottages will be helpful.
Keep in touch !

How heavy do we want to be in the reply?

I was confused by this sentence
Macedon is responsible with map-sharing information for the moment.
Did you mean mackoti is the one with the map sharing information? Or something else?

That's good to hear! I do need to mention that General Sunrise politely asked me to ask you to not scout the lands we consider in our civ's sphere of influence. Okay well he didn't actually ask me to "politely" ask you - but I was being courteous :-). As I mentioned in my initial email to you, we have fully scouted the lands to your scout's west and north and there is no outlet.
Whereabouts are your lands? One of our scouting units is about 16 tiles east of your scout's position (near the semicircle of peaks near a pig, corn and fish resource) and we have not yet seen your borders? Is there anywhere you would recommend that we do or do not scout? We'd be happy to extend you the same scouting courtesy if we are near your lands!
Have you met any other civs yet? You guys were the first ones that we have met!
For the moment we reseach Pottery because we plan to expand a little bit our empire and several cottages will be helpful.
Thanks for the tip! We actually had you on Sailing because we figured that you were going for the Great Lighthouse, given your civ and leader combo! But Pottery is good too, especially since it seems like everyone had a pretty commerce-poor start!
A few notes
* They (legally) double moved their scout on us, so we can't kill it this turn even if we wanted to
* We know they've met another civ as they haven't put any espionage on us yet
* The last line about Pottery struck me as odd - why would they just bring that up out of the blue, unless they're trying to make us think they're not going for GLH.

Email from mackoti
Quote:hi,
Yes mackoti is with map exchange, we dont want to scout your lands, we will just pass , i know and if i am not, please corect me your capital is north from our scout so the scout will not go in that direction. We just want to meet other civs to get discounts on our research.
Regards,
mackoti
It is frustrating that we don't seem to be communicating very well.
Here's what I sent - I tried to make it simple
Quote:Hi,
* Are mackoti and ioan both using this email account?
* Our capital is north and west of your location - please don't scout in those directions
* There are no other civs to the north or west of your scout - we've scouted the whole landmass in that direction
* Have you met any other civs?

Okay I'm chatting with Ioan76 right now. He's met not 1, not 2 but 3 other civs already.
He said his lands are east and a little bit north of Reading.
He's met
SleepingMoogle to ioan's NW - I think he's probably to the NW of Bob our warrior
luddite to ioan's NE
lord parkin to ioan's E
He confirmed that he's seen more fo those "peak blocker" passages, which is to be expected.
I'll post more when we're done

Okay I don't want to post the whole chat because it meandered a bit, but here's some more of the highlights:
* He said that they were making a run at Stonehenge and lost "quite a bit of hammers". So that confirms that their T28 tech was Mysticism. They probably started right on the wonder then, and missed out to LP completing it on T35. LP also got Mysticism on T28, so they must have been pretty close
* Macedon = mackoti, and I guess that mackoti doesn't feel as comfortable speaking English, but we were asked to not mention that to him.
* (I think?) I'm going to take them at face value on their Pottery research, which means that after researching Mysticism they did Mining on T36 and Wheel on T41 (or the reverse which would make more sense).
* We're going to catch up later today hopefully to talk with some maps in front of us. They are 7 hours ahead of us, at GMT+2 (Romania)
* I told (asked?) him again not to scout north or west. I suggested he could move south, but really was going to suggest southeast - we'll talk more when we can both look at some maps
