Anyone else read PB 8 and how it ended?
How should we handle consession in this game?
I understand this might still be 10-20 turns in the future, but it pays to think of these things beforehand, I guess.
Here's Krill proposal:
Quote:That said, I agree with the other posters views that in future we need to implement a concession mechanic on the forum. My preferred method is that the moment any player wants to concede the game, they just PM a previously specified lurker stating that they want to concede and to whom (could be "Concede to everyone" or just "Concede to player X"). Once a predetermined number of players have sent a message that they are willing to concede to player X (Concede to everyone counting as a concession to player X in this instance) then the lurker confirms with every player that has sent a PM that orders still stand and then posts in the public thread that the game is over. The predetermined number could be every player but the winning player needs to concede, or just something like 2/3 players, or even something abstract like players controlling 75% of the in game population or land area need to concede for the game to end. But whatever happens, need to be done privately.
One could put a number at more than 50% of survivors, including 2nd score player, or 2nd AND 3rd score player if these have less than 7,5% point difference between them. Otherwise, once everyone but nr. 2 has agreed to conceed, he might be asked in his lurker thread about what he thinks about...conceeding. Now he knows that the rest of the world is ready to give in, meaning he can't expect much help from them.

Thank you for bringing this up. I agree, we need some way of being able to agree to end the game when that time comes without having to put individual players on the spot when that moment comes. I don't necessarily wish to default to score in any way, such that second or third place, etc., have an unduly high input on what should happen with regard to concession, but I do think some mechanic needs to be in place where players will not just comment in the tech thread when they feel the time has come, as that can impact the outcome (as we have seen, perhaps). My wish would be that, as a player in this game, when you feel the time for concession has come, formally state so in your thread and play on until you hear in an authoritative way that the time has come to stop playing. I would request that our lurkers, keeping in mind that this is a mostly greenish game, would stay quiet until the general consensus of global lurkers is that the game should be conceded for X or Y player, and then steer the conversation in that direction in the tech thread. I do not want the lurkers to decide the outcome, but I want to protect the players from being unduly influenced by seeing in the tech thread that other players are ready to throw in the towel.
Does that make sense? Thanks again for starting the conversation.

Did you pop some Giant Death Robots from a hut?
I'm in favor of the informal method of posting in your spoiler thread and asking lurker(s) to carry your message and facilitate.
As in PB8, its not possible to force someone to play who doesn't want to, so in the event concession is disputed, we might need a substitute player. Otherwise,

I generally agree with this.

You make log in
Anyway Suttree hasn't play yet, I have never saw him playing at this hours so it would be really great if someone could pause the game just in case. Maybe oxymindyzone can do it? Not sure, please lets avoid a reload.

Hmmm game appears to be down, in the 13 tech thread, Sunrise mentioned that he had weather issues so I expect that is the cause.

Power outage longer than my UPS lasted (on top of the RBP13 issue which actually may have taken things down first). Reloaded to wetbandit's login.

Does anyone know who Damon82 is? They've been logging into Me/BaII's civ, but neither of us seem to know who he is. Nothing seems to be changed in my Civ from when I logged in, so there's no damage being done, but I'm just wondering who it is...
