Situations have come up/changed such that I don't feel comfortable subbing for HAK anymore (since I haven't had any contact that I was promised going into this week)--what do we do now? He said he'd be back Monday, but that's a long time to keep the game paused for

Well it sounds like HAK will be back in 3.5 days from this post. So I guess we could pause and wait for him. Especially if Mackoti's also finding it difficult to play at the moment with an imminent protege awaiting to spawn.
Mackoti already paused the game at his last login (or the turn would have rolled a long time ago). Civstats looks really screwy at the moment, displaying a negative time, but I think it should still be paused.
My server crashed for some obscure reason that I am unable to pinpoint. Meh.
Game reloaded from Haram's login autosave. Please try to log in an additional time, everyone, to avoid needing to replay turns. Especially these days with the high possibilities of thunderstorms.
As the Americans learned so painfully in Earth's final century, free flow of information is the only safeguard against tyranny. The once-chained people whose leaders at last lose their grip on information flow will soon burst with freedom and vitality, but the free nation gradually constricting its grip on public discourse has begun its rapid slide into despotism. Beware of he who would deny you access to information, for in his heart he dreams himself your master. - Commissioner Pravin Lal, "U.N. Declaration of Rights"

I am back from vacation and will be logging in shortly to play my turn. I'll repause when I'm done so that Seven can play.
