[SPOILERS] Donovan Zoi and AdrienIer: Slümhund Millionaires!

As feared, Joey has two new cities this turn. It remains to be seen if one of those is the barb site, but if not that is bad news. One of them is certainly the Marble site though. We have two Axemen within two tiles of whichever site they chose(he was 1s if Marble last turn so either there or our x site)
. I am thinking of taking it but am unsure what kind of backup he has for an Impi escort. I'll get more info to you later but let me know what you think for now.

Two axes to an impi is pretty good. Are we that far behind in expansion or is he really overexpending ?

We are on par with Elkad and Gavagai, both with 3 cities. Everyone else has 4, including Grimace. On the other hand, we are first in everything else except food and population. So our cities will be more productive than Joeys. In the end I think we can win this because we can ramp up our cities faster.

Sorry, I am typing this on my phone so my posts may not be as good as usual.

When is filler city gonna be settled ?

We get it next turn so 2 turns. Then I think WB or Axe depending on situation to get SF to Size 7, then another Settler. We can start to set up Oswego for Settler builds too.

Also, Writing in 5.

Are we getting a scouting WB soon ? Or a galley ?

Ah I see you mentioned a WB in your previous post, unless we get into a war with GJ I think it's the best idea

Turn 61 - 1560 BC

After seeing Joey land the two cities on turn 60, things seemed like they could be bleak. And don't get me wrong, it's still certainly going to be an uphill battle to claim the land on this continent. But hope came last turn with a map trade offer from Commodore. After mulling it over for a few minutes, I decided to take the deal.

Here is what it unveiled:

The New World

Wow, Commodore is much farther away than I would have imagined! You can get some perpective via the Ivory/Banana island on the right. In fact, there is another player in between that has yet to travel half the distance to meet us than Commodore did -- retep.

Stone is Ours

There are 4 decent city sites on what could be considered our part of this landmass and possibly 2 on the small bit of land north of Duquesne. Judging from this screenshot, we won't be contested by retep for our Stone (you can just see his borders south of the western Furs). He will likely challenge us for some Silks but the food support to maintain them is not the best.

Commodore's Lands

Here you can see all the resources bestowed upon Commodore. I still think our position is a bit better. HAK is directly to the south of Commodore, and is the only player I am not sure how we are going to meet yet (FYI, we lost our western scout to a barb warrior on the turn we met Grimace). Also, notice yet another instance of Stone beckoning across the sky blue waters.

Settlement Strategy

With this new info, I think we will be in a great position to claim 5 of the 7 sites showing in the new world (I am including the Ivory/Banana island), as well as at least 3 more on our original continent. Here is the settlement order I think would be best:

1. Filler site (Carrilion - founded T62) This site will grow to Size 2 in 4 turns and will have a Granary chopped out before it hits Size 3. I think that putting the Globe Theatre here and keeping the pop low will be a great way to quickly build more FWs and cheaper miltary units. We'd have to commit to that tech path over others though.

2. Lone wheat site to block - This location will eventually give us 3 plantation goodies (Dyes, Incense, Bananas) but will be slow growing with only a Plains Wheat. Still might be worth it to chop the heck out of Axes/Chariots and to stop the western expansion by Joey, or we can just let Joey think he has the upper hand and take this currently subpar site while we go for more productive ones, and then take it back later. Thoughts?

3. Stone site - getting Stone online will allow us to chop out Walls quickly in order to grab and protect sites like....

4. 2-crab site (couth of Fish site) - We go for this first to keep it from Gavagai if we have time. This site is viable because it has two first ring food resources. Plus the Fish site can have one of the Crabs within this site's culture while it works on its own.

5. Fish site /others - by this time, hopefully some growth will have occurred to give us 2-3 viable Settler producing sites. This will help us to get the Ivory site and the Deer/Clams site founded as well.

Turn 62 - 1520 BC

Here is our land as of Turn 62!

Yes, we were the latest to the game for our 4th Settler (tied with Elkad actually), but we are now in the top 3 in most demographics including food/population. You can see in the screenshot that a lot will happening in the next 2 turns.

Next turn

We get a scouting WB and an as-yet-unneccesary Spear (no one nearby has Horses connected yet). The Spear is in the right place (Oswego) since Joey has Horses within his borders already and can connect at any time. The WB may be able to double back and secure a resource once it removes some fog since we have revealed a good part of the map.

Two turns

We complete Writing. Do we want to trade maps with Grimace? Do we research Masonry, Metal Casting or IW next? Aesthetics? I would push for Poly but incidentally someone already founded Hinduism but hasn't made it official via revolution yet. I'll continue to keep an eye on that.

Growth for both Duquesne and Oswego. Duquesne will finally have food reserves at that time so growth should be faster.

Another Chariot in Duquesne. I am liking Chariots now for two reasons: Elkad only seems to be defending with Axes and Joey currently has his stacks separated, meaning that our counter units would be extremely effective. In both instances, we can capitalize via quick FW road nets if we plan properly. Probably too risky diplomatically to tick both of them off, so we should probably pick which opponent we'd like to focus on.

In Other News

Elkad founded that site NE of Duquesne we were just talking about, defending with 2 Axes.

Joey is protecting a worker mining the Marble at Creole Osceola with an Axe while he leaves the Impi alone to defend the city. If this condition persists, we may be able to take out both and get a free worker with a roadnet strategy.

Had to pull a Chariot away from guarding our new city (not the best choice, I know) to defend against a Warrior approaching Salmon Falls. We are fine for now, but I am monitoring this closely.

Dotmap idea for the new world : 1W of the northern sheep and NW of the southern wine.

Could you post the demos next time ? I'd like to know how we rank in soldier points.
Wouldn't maths be the logical tech path ? I feel like we have only a few choices : go for the oracle (not sure this is worth it), MC for cheap forges and maybe the colossus (a pretty good alternative actually) or maths (classic choice, followed by alphabet or currency)

If we're really above GJ and/or Elkad in soldier points we could try something, but screenshots of the potential fighting grounds would help me get an opinion smile
