Quote:I don't recall seeing any major complaints about Air Power turnsplits during PB18, but maybe BGN can offer some perspective?
Not likely. I'm not up for rounds of discussion and most of my fighting in pb18 is not relevant to this situation, just me using fighters against civs without air power until the very end vs TBS, which he has covered.
Sequential combat is messy. As little as I like it, if you guys want as close to fair as possible, go with sequential turns. Just be prepared for this game to take forever.
For the record, I'm fine with whatever you decide.

On a separate note, I'm off on holiday on Wednesday for 2weeks. There'll be some travel days, but I should have access for most of the trip. If I have an unexpected block in access, OT4E may be able to cover, but he's a bit swamped at the moment so short pauses might be needed.

Well this is a fun thread to come back to after the weekend.
To make sure I'm understanding the situation, correct me if I'm wrong, but here is what I'm seeing for the last said/preferred option from all of the players:
Scooter: Prefers no bombing improvements
Dreylin: Prefers no bombing improvements
REM: Prefers sequential
Pindicator: Prefers no bombing improvements
BGN: Fine with group consensus
It seems then that at this point the 'no bombing improvements' vote is the majority, but I don't want to ignore REM's concerns either. REM, is that still mainly due to the problem of healing advantage? You had also mentioned bombing hurting production but if the rule is expanded from 'no bombing resources' to 'no bombing improvements' than I think that ceases to be an issue.
I also have noted TBS's comment about this solution downgrading airpower. Which is a relevant point I think to discuss for future games, but I'm not sure it's enough to elicit a reaction more than 'don't worry about air as much' since this is a game already in progress that needs a quick solution. Especially since the game state is still such that no one already has a fleet of aircraft they have invested into that would directly hurt anyone's chances.

Also: I think sequential would be a fine solution for the specific problem if it didn't then drag things out forever long. PBEMs stagnate with 5 or even 4 players as it is, doing 6 person sequential would likely kill the game before too long.

Yes mainly due to the healing advantage. Don't see a way around this though other than having sequential or longer more complicated turnsplits. Guess you just need to attack in the first half for that bonus if you're going no bombing tile improvements.

Yeah that's what I was coming to, I think trying to do anything about will be more trouble than it's worth.

And seeing as there's no further discussion/objection I think I'll make that into game law:
For the remainder of this game, Air units bombing tile improvements is disallowed.

Stepping in to avoid further problems : It would be nice if someone could pause the game so that NO ONE plays their turn from here, there might be a reload incoming.

Will I potentially have to replay?
