Yeah muskets will be key.

Taking Cities v humans is v difficult. Got to have enough forces to rotate out the first ones to get shot at etc.

Having farms to pillage or promotions to take is great of course.

He will have lot's of horses. no question about it and will be able to replace lost ones quickly.

We lost the near dead Musket and our Courser, CMF also nearly killed our Archer which I named Braveheart afterwards, as he positioned to pull a shot from Bruins as the only mean to kill him.

Our other musket survived and now has Tortoise promotion as the only thing which is dangerous to it have been the Crossbow shots accumulating. On a jungle hill he has a defense strenght of 69 against Ranged at the moment.
I moved the other Musket and Pikemen up and started some MYC, probably the last batch as we want to get 2 crossbows soon for the Eureka. Another Musket finishes next turn.

Getting al-Zahrawi is great for you and just what you need.

hopefully geneva can annoy him at wild but unlikely.

I think you want to get that city west of bruins founded. can help with healing/upgrades and control some territory.

I was considering that as well, but it is a poor city though until it gets a flood, current priority are the three cities closing the mountain range off in the S against Ichabod.
We will settle here eventually for the nice we can get with Sphinxes. Healing should be better now thanks to Ibn, lucky break that he came after Hildegard which we passed on and Suboptimal took. But 4 :oming from our best HS was just not worth it. Ichabod would have liked Hildegard, I bet.

We will soon have 3 more MYC and have a renewed friednship with Woden. The N is on Eureka/Inspiration duty, but the S is already militarizing quickly. We are building the last batches of MYC before we finally research Machinery, I think another 3-4 will be good as we will need to have some on the Ichabod border as well.




CMF is just way better than me at managing his units and the way I have to spread the damage.
I was expecting to loose the near dead Archer and 2 Cats, but he also managed to kill the forward MYC in the forest there.


I really need to get units out here as CMF has upgraded into his first Knight. There is another crossbow in the fog but that is mostly it, I think we can grind Bruins down slowly but the cost has already been crazy high.
I was expecting to pay a heavy price, but the neckbreaker was that there is no tile to shoot on Bruins besides the Encampent and the DH E of it while Bruins and units in it can start shooting when we are already on the PWheat.

His Army is pretty whittled down but he stomped my assault here so far:

To take cities you really need lots of units.

You get shot at. You get hit by army. You lose health hitting the walls. Then city. Then you need to hold it.

I was afraid of this that musket is probaby dead.

to me you need to pull back a bit and heal and regroup. may well be better to go after kings and then blues far more open territory which suits an attack more than bruins.

you go in in a solid formation with muskets and pikes at front or even wait till pike and shot and bombards. The scientist in the middle.
you need so many units in a tight formation that some can not attack and heal. when would the heal happen after your turn and before chavalier? you need so much. crosbows as well.

that military alliance is brutal as well. make peace with brazil?

there is no religion anywhere near him do you take crusade? never used it and it would cost you all your faith just to convert 2 cities at best.
