Intersite Game - Turn Discussion Thread

This probably fits better in here than in the Diplo thread (though I put it in the tracker thread too):

Chat with CFC Wrote:Caledorn: if these screenshots I am looking at are the correct ones, your scout should be near a small mountain range
scooter right
yes, east of raj, north of what looks like "lane"
might have the name wrong but it looks like lane
Caledorn: that would be Lana
scooter ah
yeah. that's the one
Caledorn: UCiv should be found 6-9 tiles north of you then, based on where your angle of travel is
should be lots of jungle in between us and UCiv

I thought I'd say that right away, just so that's out of the way, in case getting a proper response out takes some time
scooter ok great, thanks!
Caledorn: my pleasure smile

Since I don't think we really care about exploring Spanish Apolyton territory, I'll send our scout north in the hopes of finding UniversCiv. No guarantee that we'll make it through the jungle though with all the barbs on this map. I think it's worth a shot.

Agree. Another contact is more valuable, and Univers is closer to us, too.

The barb warrior in the southeast disappeared into the fog, while the axe moved in

There is another barb, but only a warrior, by Tree Huggers as well

At least I vote that we use all the overflow from the whips for war chariots.

Here's a preliminary turn report for the start of the turn. I don't want to move the workers and do the city micro until we have a better idea of where these two settlers are going to go. Plenty of time until we have to play for real at this point.

I moved the CFC scout north and then northeast onto this jungle hill. We spotted the borders of this Spanish Apolyton city and more importantly a source of marble. Like the stone resources we've seen thus far, it looks like there are some marble resources distributed in contested zones between teams as well. In fact, I'd wager that the CFC settler we just saw whipped last turn is probably going to head for this marble spot. Too bad it's a thousand leagues away from our own borders.

I'll probably move the scout N-NE again next turn, heading further in the general direction of UniversCiv while also potentially getting visibility on that Spanish Apolyton city.

Axeman Wyn moved northwest as requested and found a gems tile buried in the jungle. This is also probably too far away to be useful. This unit will now move to defog the region to the east south of the peaks; cross your fingers for at least one food resource in this jungle area.

We will also connect horses (finally) this turn at Brick By Brick. I wonder if we should just move the two workers (or one of them) onto the plains hill to the southwest next turn. Roading that tile would give us an instant trade connection to CivPlayers, and now is a useful time to do that while waiting on cultural borders to expand and grab the wheat/wines.

And here's the tactical puzzle posed by the barb axeman that kjn also included above. We were supposed to move our workers onto the tile NW of the corn this turn, in preparation for roading it next turn. That feels a bit too risky with the barb axe right next door. (We could move there and cover the workers with our own axe + warrior, but what if the barb moved the other way towards Focal Point? We'd have to emergency whip a defender. Not good.)

After thinking about this for a little bit, my recommendation is to move the workers east and run our road through that tile, the one south of the peak and N-NW of the corn. We can cover our workers with the warrior and have the axe hold position for this turn to see where the barb axe goes. If it moves back towards Focal Point, then our axe can respond in turn. If the barb moves further east towards our workers, then our axe can go defend them on the forest tile where we get a major bonus. We just need to stall here for about 2 more turns until our war chariots come out and can clean up any problems. Any other thoughts here?

If anyone has sandbox contruction experience, I could use some help over in the micro thread getting the Currency trade routes and known tech bonus to come out correctly.

I suggest to follow the suggestions I posted I the micro thread and build a 1t war chariot in ffruit this turn. I think in this case covering the workers with axe and warrior is reasonable.

If the barb axe moves the other way, you can road with the workers and then move the units back. That said, building the road like you suggest may also be a good solution.
If you know what I mean.

I like Sullla's solution of building a road on the tile 1S of the peak a lot.

For scout movement next turn by Spanish Apolyton, did you mean NE-NE?

Yeah, that seems like a good solution for now.

I wonder where ours is. I wonder if its somewhere in the tundra, would be a pain if it was in the NW jungle fog.
