I completely missed planetary strike as a combination, which was a shame. It would have been a lot smoother if i had put planetary: 3 as my second clue.

No, I think we were leaning Shadow over Strike for a third Planetary word if there had been one, and that would have given blue a freebie and probably cost that last turn we needed.

Of course, T-hawk was a fantastic teammate with how he set me up into that Envenomed clue by laying out that he was going to point to Moon + Dwarf if I did an unlimited clue. That was very helpful!

And I set up even before that: I made sure we finished University first, to open the way to be able to clearly state that plan next, instead of potentially fumbling back and forth between University and Planetary.

Yeah, so round 3 ensues. Who wants it for red? Sunrise, Azoth, Shallow?

there's no connection between draft and farmer

This would be close to the first mental image evoked by the word "farmer" for me.
I know that draft horses and oxen have been replaced by tractors and other mechanized beats in the West for quite some time now, but there are still quite a few places in the world doing it old school.

Yes I'm aware of draught horses. There's a team working not 200 yards from me right now. I shouldn't have said no connection. But MOLE is much much stronger IMO.

And even then if the team had guessed draft on round 3 instead of passing this is probably a win.


BTW Pins University clue was brilliant and I think should have won it for red in 3 rounds there, I think sting instead of envenomed shuts us out before the fourth round.

I can't think of any other possible connections on the board so it seems that he is deliberately clueing away from one of these words. My guess is we're trying to clue all of those except for Antarctica since that has the least connection to Ski. Then again, I could also see an argument for Antarctica and against Canada in the same way. So I think I like ICE, ALPS, and SHOE first ... then a toss-up for the last spot

Ice, Shoe, Alps, Antarctica, Canada... there's five good candidates here, in that order I think. I bet one is gray and an acceptable miss, which most likely is one of the place names, so do those last. I like Alps first of those since it's a slightly stronger connection, and it's pretty much a coin flip between Antarctica and Canada after.
