Well played. Definitely agree on Opportunist - one of the best choices in the game for a pure sniper.

Have got the save and will try and play today

Ok we start off with Precision Lasers 2 days away, the end of month 10 days away and only $50 in the bank. Now Dazed has replenished our alloy supply, cash is the high priority.

We need (in no specific order):
Laser Cannons x3 (for Interceptors without them) $24 each
Laser Sniper Rifle (x2? for second sniper) $26 each
Workshop (for engineers to build 4th Sat Uplink) $130
Various OTS upgrades (Iron Will, Wetwork, Rapid Recovery) $125-200 each

Start scan for activity and Precision Lasers completes.
Our research choices are mostly Interrogations or Autopsy based but as we seem set on trying for the SA bonus when the next batch of Sats is ready in 4 days, those need to be saved. Skeleton Suit and Light Plasma Rifle are still Slow so I opt for Alien Nav computer, now due in 8 days.

Build one Laser Sniper Rifle for now.

A couple of days later. we get a Council transmission with a mission

Not the best reward (although another promoted Heavy will be useful) but the cash and panic reduction are more important.
As I haven't done any promotions yet, I quickly have Ug take the automatic 'Low Profile ' upgrade and then choose Holo-Targeting for Gustaran with the idea of taking him down the suppression line to show that off.

Our squad for the mission

We're on the 'Downed Bridge' map where the main thing to watch is the high ground at the far end.
A rapid advance using cover lead us to first contact with Thinmen

Gustaran takes down the first Thinman with his laser rifle. The second leaps us from the lower level and meets our reaction fire. Uberfish misses but HapHazard nails it.

We reveal two more Thinmen in the collapsed centre section but HapHazard misses his reaction shot as they dart to cover.

Gustaran again takes out a Thinman with his first shot and Mardoc shoots up the other with reaction fire as it springs from cover. So far the aliens haven't even got a shot off.

When the team are all in good positions, Sareln makes a dash down to General Van Doorn. This reveals two more Thinmen on the high ground at the far end who then disappear behind cover.

Uberfish decides to remove their cover (which also removes them as well)

A Thinman drops in behind us and takes such concentrated reaction fire I can't tell who got the kill.
Three more Thinmen drop in the following turn. Ug headshots the first and Haphazard narrowly misses another with reaction fire. Annoyed with his miss, Haphazard takes aim properly and kills the Thinman.

Gustaran moves up to flank the remaining Thinman who actually gets a shot off (which misses) before Gustaran turns him into a poison cloud.

We have an easy run back with the VIP to end the mission

Sareln gets a promotion to Major from the mission

As you can tell, I've only just started using dropbox to host the images & save.

If anyone can let me know how to edit the links to show the pictures on the forum, I'll do so

Tried putting [IMG] and [/IMG] tags around one of the links. It then thinks its an image but won't display it as such

Yeah you need to put te pictures in your public folder then right click on the File to get the public link. I'm guessing the files either are not in a public ally shared folder or you copied the location instead of the public link.

I know, it's pretty impressive! I watched a few of his videos for other games and they are totally not edited or interesting. I'm not sure why he spends so much time on the XCOM videos but I enjoy watching it. And he had a few tips that I could add to my bag of tricks.

What's the team consensus on what to do with our satellites btw - try to save all countries or not?
