I really underestimated Representation on this very food-heavy map. Wetbandit had a smaller empire but much better teching rate than me.

Moving in quicker on Yuri could definitely have been an option. I think that speed is more important than getting to Knights but that`s hard to judge when playing with incomplete information. I thought that an enforced peace treaty with Wetbandit would allow you to take the remaining Indian cities and get some culture in your exposed conquests. The borders would, however, have been quite awkward for a long time and maybe a real war was unavoidable in that case.

Reading your thread there is also some talk of an attack on us. Do you think you could have made significant progress if you had turned west instead? I felt quite safe in the age of the Cho-Ko-Nu but we were slightly vulnerable 10-15 turns before Machinery.

Representation did indeed help Wetbandit to surge ahead in tech. Maybe going hard for the Pyramids could have been an option?

Definitely for both. My early strategic mistake was aggressively expanding on 3 neigbours simply just because I could. If I had held back a little to build the key Pyramids or beeline HBR to take the key GLH from you I would have been in a clearly dominant position.
