WW16: The Outlaws and The Olives

Novice has been moving around in order to generate wagons and watch reactions. By adding a "trusted villager" in, he legitimizes votes against targets and lets people throw some votes that way and throw some arguments with them. This generates information which he can watch.

He has been doing this all game, and it's one of the things that is making me trust him. I can't see a wolf going so out of their way to push extra information into the thread.

Catwalk Wrote:So your plan is to get experience by saying nothing? Hell, most players aren't very confident of their thoughts on the game. If you wait for confidence before posting, the game will be over by then. Your actions are strongly anti-town because you have perfect wolf cover. You have said practically nothing, so we have nothing we can pin on you. Any case on you crumbles by virtue of there being nothing to comment on. Moreover, my case against you doesn't simply hinge on you posting little. It also hinges on you voting early on safe targets and staying there without further comment.

I find a target I like, I vote for them. If I don't see anything to convince me to change, why change? Incidentally, I would consider your brand of flooding the thread with frequent vote changes, strange lines of questioning, and general inconsistency to be more anti-town than what I'm supposedly doing. How can anyone establish a decent read on you when you're wildly changing your opinions and votes? It seems like a strategy to give yourself cover no matter what unfolds.

Quote:Finally, you have been flip flopping as to why you're not saying much. Earlier you said you were not lurking at all but just like keeping it short and sweet. Now you're saying you don't have much time and don't feel like commenting without certainty. Which one is it?

They're not mutually exclusive. I post my thoughts when I'm feeling reasonably confident in them, and they're short. And my impression is that there's a significant time commitment expected to the game, that I simply cannot give. I didn't join the game to spend hours a day sifting through thousands of posts on hunches.

But, why Ichabod, and why only just an hour after switching to Tasunke?

I can explain in a bit, need a keyboard.

How do you feel about Ichabod, Azza?
I have to run.

I'm happy to stay on Ichabod, especially if there's actual traction, maybe I'll finally be in the group of people doing the actual lynching. My wife and I are going to watch a movie and go to bed so I'm going to turn in a bit early tonight.

He hasn't done anything that stands out in my mind as being particularly suspicious. The only argument I can really remember being made against him was that he's playing differently to past games, which more or less is meaningless to me.

Azza, who are your top candidates for scum and villager and why?

What do you think of his intervention on day 4 to stop the first bandwagon on Mattimeo?

Okay, about Ichabod. Like Lewwyn said, he's been swinging in and out of my scumdar. He was a target on day 2 due to his day 1 performance, but on late day 2 and day 3 he came into his own and started acting like an earnest scumhunter. Then on day 4 I thought I saw the return of scummy Ichabod - some of his cases just seemed contrived. (Echoing Lewwyn again here.)

With day 5 I felt good about Ichabod again, because he voted Mattimeo in the final half-hour of day 4, and his "HELL YEAH" reaction to Mattimeo's flip echoed mine exactly. But objectively, his day 4 performance consisted of forcefully shutting down the Mattimeo wagon early, and then he did a late vote switch to Mattimeo when it looked like he might go down (his was the fifth vote).

So in summary Ichabod does fall into the grey zone and if people I lean village on prefer to lynch him over e.g. Pindicator or Rowain I'm open to it. But I would very much like to hear what other people think.
I have to run.

I had been thinking tasunke, but trying to look back at the formation of the Mattimeo bandwagon led me to this post. So I'm less convinced on that front.

I'll move my vote to pindicator for now, but I'm still not that confident. More just going with the most suspicious of the most lynchable targets.

I still don't trust you. As I said, I think you're giving too much information for anyone to get a reliable read on you. A dangerous strategy, but a plausible one IMO.

Novice has a suspiciously strong grip on the village, and I'm naturally distrustful of anyone holding too much power. If he's a mafia, it's an insanely risky strategy he's going with, but with the respect that he seems to be held under it seems plausible.

I also have a hunch on waterbat, but nothing to really prove it.

The only person I'm confident of village is myself. But those lower on my list of suspects at this stage would be Injera and Twinkletoes.

Is there a particular post/series of posts I should look be looking at? Because I think that defending someone who turns out to be scum isn't inherently suspicious, it depends how it's done.
