[spoilers] Commodore is strategic in Pitboss 74

Yeah exactly, and that's the position I would expect players to approach these things from.

Unfortunately, it does translate to in game action with PYFT wars. I suspect Tarkac and Superdeath could stalemate Plemo for a long long time, but this game isn't going to last with Plemo alive. At all. So, I'm putting together a galleon force to burn all his islands and raid his southern coast. He's going to be challenging, already has Optics though:

My own scouting shows that the map team specifically hollowed out my local ocean for Astro land (probably I was originally on a subcontinent there) but there's plenty of decent real estate out here in the end. I want even this stuff near India...

...and this especially interests me. Five good cities and a couple decent fillers visible right here, and hope for a couple more in this southern continent.

Every city gets a granary (60h), courthouse (60h), lighthouse (30h) and then is just pure profit. As a result the first priority is for the choppable locations but everything eventually gets it. We're very close to being at the end of Slavery as a civic but there's a lot of flatland for 1/4 Caste workshops, ideally 2/4 SP/Caste in a little bit.

I'm embarrased to ask, but remind me who your leader is?

In my defense, it's late on Friday and it would have been silly to leave that little bit of whisky all alone at the end of the bottle.

Still have much more wonderful land explored, it looks like we have quite the little mini empire here, marginal for most, but for Darius, incredibly productive and valuable. If I manage to swing the Kremlin then I can even make them production hubs to completely dominate the inner ocean with purchased destroyers.

Not shown, on the other hemisphere there is a crab/iron Island right next to Pindicator. I want all of them, this Astronomical play has managed to open up at least a dozen new cities if I can get moving.

There’s some potential shenanigans incoming with the settlement of the outer lands; we’ve got huts incoming. Obviously most will be a piddly 10-20% of a single turn’s gold at this point, or a useless map, but there’s potentially hilarious “Education from a hut” outcomes here too.

I feel bad a miss here; should have woven in a couple Explorers to load onto these caravels for hut-popping. Funny to see a barbarian warrior at this stage in the game too.

Plemo is winning his War at Sea with Tarkac, even as he’s sustaining more border city losses on the Superdeath Front. I’m extremely aware that Viking caravels are very capable of swarming and wiping galleon fleets; I’m hoping the Tarkac fight keeps intense enough for a sentry net to be impossible.

I’m pretty sure I’m the only Astronomy player right now, but that’s not going to be forever…I need my own caravel sentry net out in the next dozen turns too.

Other top dogs are making their moves:
-Pindicator is finally moving in against Amicalola to completely end him.
-Gavagai landed Philosophy a while back, I expect Taj out of him very soon.
-Gingelito are hitting Magic Science, their main rival to the Little Continent. This is how they WIN THE GAME if they can conquer the whole continent. To face that I need all the inner ocean’s land and Kremlin to be able to afford to 100+ destroyer fleets to actually strip all the coasts.

Plemo and Amicalola, the cause of delays, in that order. Don't care if it helps rivals, they have to die.

I like those big visions.

"100+ destroyer fleet" ... while sending out the first settler-galleon smile
I mean, if those others are busy with land-wars, why not build up sea supremacy
