The German / Roman waters are directly connected to CMFs southern holdings though. That's more or less his home ocean, but you're right that he has to sail by the Kongo / Khmer continent to get to Sullla.

So I had a look and it seems he has or is building the quads necessary to upgrade to 10 frigates in the northern ocean. I don't think he has nearly the same numbers in the south, where he's having the back and forth with the barbarians.

There's no choice but to go in: S+S's science lead will induced a 2v1 and not having to face them at the same time is more important than defenders advantage.

Sullla is suggesting facing Woden/CMF while at peace with AD/EK, so it wouldn't be a 2v1.

It will be interesting to see how The Archduke / Emperor K will react to the DOF.

I think the right move will be not to sign a DOF. That doesn't necessarily mean that they have to fight it out with Rome/China, but I don't think it is wise to give the score leader a safe front.

On the other hand Nubia looks pretty defensless right now and The Archduke was complaining about Woden / CMF going into builder mode. Maybe that will come back to bite them now. If they had signalled a little clearer, that they were ready to attack Sullla / Singaboy as soon as possible, they would have The Archduke / Emperor K firmly in their camp.

At this point does any team have a path to victory? Sullla/SB could slog to a science victory in theory, but I doubt the other teams would allow it.

The question is if they can allow it. Sullla's analysis of the tech situation is pretty spot on. They need to be stopped yesterday, and the longer that takes the worse a situation the other teams are in.

Like, CMF/Woden need to get a secure position really quickly because the moment Battleships come online nothing within three hexes of the ocean is safe.

If Archduke and Emperor K accept, it's probably GG. Prolonged DoFs are very dangerous at this point in the game. If they accept, the wager effectively is: I predict my position will be stronger in 30 turns than you will be, after having taken territory from CMF and Woden. Hardly a sure thing at this point. 

Kudos to Sullla for making the difficult call to consider a course change after so many sunk costs, always difficult to uncommitt yourself. But I really do think that an attack on Germany will likely end in a stalemate, and might indeed cost them some Chinese cities.

Yeah, Sullla is absolutely right to call off the attack. It's a huge investment with only minimal returns and leaves them open for a counter-attack from England / Nubia.

Somehow the Sullla/Singaboy offer got through to Archduke and not Emperor K...which coincides with the offer from Woden!!!

Emperor K wants Woden... But what will The Archduke decide???
