[PB25-SPOILERS] The Lunacy of the Reign of HAK Continues

I have two options next turn. Move the Spear onto the Stone (and meet GJ officially), which would alert GJ to our presence on the land south of him. Thoughts?

I think that it's time to bring the spear back home,...or at least to park him on that previous City #6 hill site. We could run into a barb axe soon. The value of intel on the additional land isn't that high and we'll likely have chariots soon enough.

Yeah, I'm leaving his scout alone. And going to keep an eye on that Axe. If he moves it south next turn, yes I'll give the Axe the promotion for the added 10% strength. For now I'm holding onto it until it's needed. He'll be fortifying in place until Archer (or additional Axe) support arrives. The workers should be able to farm the Corn in peace...and with Grimace's scout moving around in our backlines, that'll actually spawnbust for us such that we shouldn't have any surprise barbs in the immediate future....at least until one kills his scout for us. LOL

I assume you mean bring him back home after I move him onto the Stone hill next turn to meet GJ?

Btw, I'm going to be working on a SIM this evening. Since I have to redo the whole thing with having to get that Axe out before the Granary.
Right now Sleepy is set to grow and get the granary in 5 turns. I'll likely manipulate the tiles such that it doesn't grow in 5 turns so that the granary comes out first, and then it grows the turn after.

Not a strong preferece,...but if he doesn't know that we're here and establishes lightly defended cities on our contient we may be able to nab something with chariots. So I was preferring to not make contact. Also, C3 still can't whip,..and even if it could it would hurt to do so. So the spear prevents whipping away our gold for example.

Quick update because I just want to get to bed.

Since the worker finished the road on the mine this turn as well, decided to send the new Axe out of Hungry to the NE. With Grimace having to divert (hopefully) away from the Marble, I figured it'd be a good idea to get a blocker up there to make sure he does try to sneak in my back door. And low and behold, we see the borders of one of Commodore's cities right there. Yeah, very very tight map.

Down in the south, we settled our city. It actually pushed Grimace's scout back into his own territory. Which is also cool, so now he won't even know what our southern territory looks like.
My Axe killed the barb which had moved onto the Gold, and then I had to move him SE. Not shown in the image is another Barb that I have marked, which my scout saw. I moved the scout 1N before I took my screenshot and lost sight of the barb.

Anyway, off to bed. I'll go over more stuff tomorrow. I did not end turn because still trying to decide which tech to start on. Either Masonry, Sailing, or Writing. I ran my sim doing Masonry so that I could get that Marble quarry going for the new city to grow onto.

I have to head off to softball practice soon, but if you end up being around and want to try a few sims, there's a certain something I want to actually try. With the number of coastal cities we already have (and have mapped out to have in the future)....this would be ideal for TGL. So I'm currently leaning towards Sailing next, with Masonry after it, and then move on to Writing.
But need to SIM which city can get it out fastest while also not hurting our expansion too much. I was originally leaning towards chopping it out in Happy, and I think that's my first choice. But if can get it faster in either Sleepy or Hungry, may try for that. Sleepy has less forests, but can grow bigger and has all those Mines. Hungry is similar in that it can grow fast, has a few forests to chop, and mines. But with Commodore that close, not sure I want that wonder right next to him to tempt him to try to take it from us. Happy or Sleepy would be the best protected locations. And I think Sleepy would be needed most for making the next Settler, since Happy can't really do that.
Anyway, here's the updated sandbox. I'll be able to run some sims this afternoon. Since I haven't ended turn, we have until this evening to make the Tech decision (not that it really matters too much since we're going 0% research this turn).

I know you probably don't like this idea...of going for a wonder. But we're already way behind in research and GNP....getting this wonder will really help us start to catch up.

Typing from phone so making this short. Forgot to mention. You'll see worker by C3 made road and started chop this turn. Original plan had him chopping then farm then road. Somehow when I moved him there a couple turns ago I must have clicked the wrong thing. So that change is included in this sandbox.

So, ran a sim and got TGL in Happy on T80. That was basically enough for me to decide to go Sailing before Masonry (which I was already considering anyway). And that's the decision I needed for this specific turn. So we have now rolled to T56.
Commodore got Hinduism. He's the only one who got a score increase this turn, so it has to be him. So that meas we'll have our two immediate neighbors pushing against us with their religion culture.
And even worse, I was wrong about where that city of his is:

It is further north. Which leaves him room to come south at me. If he decides to do that, he'll push against the culture of Hungry. Not sure what, if anything, we can do about that. Maybe we should sim getting a city over there as a buffer and hope he accepts that line drawn in the sand...on the river. But don't really know where I'd put it. Too bad I can't put it 2NE of Hungry, connecting the lake and the ocean.

Over in the west, the Spear found the edge of the land:

He'll return home now. If I go NW, I'll hit GJ's borders and he'll see me. So to avoid him I need to just come back across the mainland. I also moved the city marker 1W....not that we'll ever get that spot.

From the first shot, you can see the barb moved 1NE and I was able to kill it with my Axe. So 2/2 XP Axe will now head to Sore (C4).

Next up is running a SIM with Sleepy making TGL.

Finally finished my second sim, with Sleepy taking the lead on TGL...and that got it done by T74. C5 ended up a few turns late, but I think nailing that wonder will help us recover quite a bit, since by T80 I already had Hungry finishing yet another Settler for either the block against Commodore, settling to the West, getting a Galley ready for Stone-land, or the filler HE site between C4 & C5. So that's the plan I'm going to currently work towards....at least until the next hiccup that changes things. smile

Moved the Axe one more to the NE. I'll likely have him return back SW or maybe quick detour E or SE next turn. Don't want to make Commodore think I'm looking for trouble, which I'm not. Just wanted to take a quick peak up that way. It did allow us to see the actual city and that he has a Quechua in it and one on the Wet Corn he already has improved.
Or borders of Hungry expanded and we can see a bit more of Stoneland and we met Elkad's exploring WB.

Down in the south I started moving the Axe towards C4 and just before I logged out decided I should risk moving the Scout one more tile SW for spawnbusting, only to discover another barb warrior. So Mr. Axe is going to have to detour that way again to clear that thread before he can continue to C4. I think I'm going to need to keep him in this area actually. C4 will have it's Archer in a couple turns with another on the way soon after, so as long as Grimace doesn't try anything crazy we should be safe over there while we build up the defenses.

And because I had a few minutes this morning, I went through civstats again to compile who finished their City 4 and when.

EDIT: File updated with Borsche's founding of his 5th city on T58. Unless I miscounted or missed something somewhere, he's the first person to get to 5 cities.
