Sweet. Maybe I should just skip Bronze Working and go for Arete? :P Though I saw the Wonder itself is pretty pricey. 447? I think I probably still want BW as an interim tech, but maybe I'll go for Arete relatively soon.
Also, I looked at Hexam's terrain a bit more, and realized that it has 4 plains hills (though one has incense), and a couple of grassland hills, with irrigated rice, cows, and some flatlands for farms. I think it'll definitely be a production city, with minimal commerce. I want to get the Copper for the resource, but I'll definitely want to plant a few more cities in more commerce-heavy locations. Probably the spots to the west and southwest. I'm also wondering if I should prioritize aristocracy more. One thing I worry about, too, is the farm decrease in food. By the time I'm able to switch, that could lead to starvation in my cities. Thoughts? Maybe I should just start a cottage economy right off the bat? Hmmm....

The bard was actually from last turn. Anyway, war is still a brewin' out there. I wish I could spare units to go spy on them, but alas, I've got my hands full at home.
Really hopes he just attacks my warrior, or I will be cross.
As you can see, the Elder Council is done and I've got my Scientist working. Used to be working the mine, so the total time for those 3 units increased by about 3 turns. This is why I don't usually play Philo civs--I just want food and production! But I know the longer term payoff for this should be worth it. Jubilee currently has a higher commerce than Coombe View, but the latter city should outstrip the capital in the long term, so I will still put the Academy there.
Got Bronze Working set tentatively next, so BW > Masonry > Construction. Kinda thinking about slotting BW 3rd, but ehhhh.

I think someone once said EitB isn't about being balanced. It's about picking something broken and getting there before other players get their broken things. At least it's more balanced than base FFH.

I wasn't expecting it to move there.... Is it possible that Serdoa is controlling any of these with hidden nationality? Also there's another one coming. I hope 2 Warriors is enough to defend this city.
Additionally, Serdoa founded a 4th city this turn, and sent me a message:
Quote:Hey Whosit,
I'm sure you've seen that I am at war with GtAngel. More or less because I was opportunistic when she defended her second city with just two warriors and then just kept going. Mainly because I was tired of turns being missed tbh. As it stands we should have one last turn with four players.
Apart from that I am just expanding a little bit and enjoy having NAPs with my neighbours. I think ours goes to T100 right?
How is it going for you, is everything fine in Clown-land? It sure seems interesting with all those trait-switches. And RoK being founded. I guess I will go there as well, so a shrine would surely benefit you I'd think.
Kind regards,
Serdoa
I'm gonna try to not read too much into it, though it sounds pretty clear that it's gonna become a 3 way race (with me in the rear). I guess if nothing else, I get to say I didn't get eliminated right away. I'm not sure how to respond yet, partly because I haven't decided on what character to use for Aggressive/Creative/Financial.
NAPs... aside from feeling like I could use one, something like that would be to my advantage, yes? Seeing as my goal is to outlast the Clan economy. However, I don't want to extend the NAP if it retains the prohibition on expanding north. I don't plan to go north in the immediate future--it's further away, will require a lot of worker turns to clear out the jungle, etc--but I want to get there eventually. I suppose I'll casually ask about renewing and see if he brings that up. Going to Turn 200 with that would probably be too far. Hmm....
Wonder if he really will get Kilmorph, too. I was gonna get the shrine, anyway, so this isn't really altering my plans at all. I suppose warrens would let him spread it faster, though.
Hm hm hmmm....

Financial response writes itself:
"Gold, gold, gold, gold
Gold, gold, gold, gold
Gold, gold, gold, gold
Gold, gold, gold, gold."
And it rhymes too.

I'm a clown, not a dwarf! Anyway.... gtangel is dead, and like I thought, Serdoa kept the capital city, so now he has 5 cities to my 3. I am not a happy camper. That goblin moved to fork my city and worker, so I moved my Warrior to cover the Worker. I have odds, so I just have to hope the goblin doesn't get a lucky roll.
I also finally replied to his message. It is not my best work by any stretch.

And $o the curtain fall$ on another a$ the audience cheer$
While you made out like a bandit.
But a$ we move on the turning of the age near$
And thi$ peace i$ nice, i$n't it?
We of the Bal$eraph hope it goe$ on
and wonder what you will do now that you've won.

I pretty much ignored most of his message to me. I just want to know about the NAP. I think I definitely need extended peace to expand and tech up.

OK, I'm really suspicious of those goblins. The on in my territory didn't attack. It's waiting. Barbarian-controlled units don't wait for reinforcements, right? I was forced to send my skeleton warrior out of my capital. It should reinforce my city next turn. Capital had one unhappy citizen this turn, so no Great Person Points this turn, ugh. New Warrior popped, so I'll fix it for next turn. I've got highest GNP, but trailing in production, population, and power by a long ways. I'm wondering if I should try to settle a more fertile place before the copper place, but I don't think I have the extra warriors and workers ready to expand further away. I do have to keep rapid expanding though. Really worried about what those barbarian units are gonna do.
Still wondering if Serdoa could be controlling them.

I don't think there's any way Serdoa could have HN goblins. I've often seen barb units sit still for one turn before attacking (or pillaging, or moving to a new tile, or whatever). And yes, barb units are fond of stacking together.
