Arise, Riders of Rohanna! Ride for Molach! [SPOILERS!]

This is the Black speech of Mordor.

Our scholars cannot dechiffer the text, but know that "Ash" means One.
And "Ghash" is fire.

And Snaga is probably some kind of Orc.

Loosely translated:

"One Beer to Rule them all, One Beer for quaffing,
Ichabod's bringing a keg,
Ranamar's bringing burgers
Molach's got a pool, so the party is at his place"

Yeah its the black speech, and I only knew as much as Molach before I visited Wikipedia tongue
Half the grammer is wrong/questionable, but its hard when Tolkien writes only 6 lines in a language.

Right, but snaga means slave.

Thoth, you missed ghash, 'fire'.
So I think the first line should end '...one beer around a camp fire'

So I get it, it's a tip that I should build the brewing house soon.

And Burzum is a Norwegian black metal band...

Hm there was a turn.

gtAngel had 229 score, now 200. I ended turn quickly, so only got demos, but I did notice the score drop.

Worst rival land area went down. And soldier count too. Leaded did not increase, so I conclude that Serdoa took and razed a gtAngel city. And idiot me was for a long time confused why pop didn't go down, but that is of course because worst pop is the clowns.

I can't say I didn't warn gtAngel about Orcs. I think gtAngel has just one or maybe two warriors in capital as well. The wolf rider will probably get another promotion from this. gtAngels capital likely has the demon warrior in defense and cultural defense, so it will be more costly to take. Not sure what Serdoa will go from here - he gained an enemy for life, but that may not be too long. If he has or can reach catapults soon it will not be too costly to take out one warrior-only city (I'll preume no bronze in cap, since neither I nor Sian got that)

I dare someone to translate it without the internet.

I think I recognize the word "Molach." Doesn't that mean "Molach" in English? mischief

bow hatsoff
For a cookie, do you recognize two other words?

lol

I actually recognize three more! (Ranamar, Ichabod, and Hippus, as I'm sure you guessed). I would like a macadamia nut cookie, thank you very much.

The Black Speech of Mordor, of course! How could I be so blind?
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

I hate macadamia, so you get it half eaten:

The Black Speech is not often spoken in the lands of the west east, but may soon be heard in all corners the world, unless the Hippus cease their futile defiance and barbaric raiding.

History of the companies: 5th warrior.

Formed: 3240 BC.
Strength: 80 men
Weaponry: Clubs, slings, wooden spears.
Commander [name has been erased from the scroll]

Initially formed during the battle of whistpering shadows, or the purging of the spectres, this company went north of Rochirost, to defend the desert wastes alongside the veteran 4th warrior. However after some disagreements between the commanders, [erased] disobeyed orders from Lords' council and went on a scouting foray. The 5th went into the increasingly inhospitable wildlands without support nor hope for reinforcement, probably to seek out the rumored gold-paved villages of Domsdale. After being surrounded by hostile bears, they finally found the road, paved with dirt rather than gold. They reached the village of Greater Domsdale, which had existed since before mortal men started reckoning the years. Bears and scorpions were hot on their trail. They not only stopped up and let their pursuers catch up, they also destroyed the very cottages and buildings that could have given them basic safety. They also chose to defend against a vastly more powerful foe in a strip of desert. The last raven received from this company mentioned that half the men were weakened from intense heat and lack of water.

It was said that the council of Lords merely replied something to the effect of "plunder money by horse", "less upkeep" and "at least bears won't get much experience" when confronted with the news. Future company commanders would do good to remember the choices made by [erased] and strive to do pretty much the opposite if what he did.

Turn 52
A bit short on images. Use image-nation instead.
I appear to have started an archery range in Amon Harad. 2 turns in, complete in 3. Guess I thought this will make colonizing the south easier. Also bonus to defense to help out Amon, which is only garrisoned by 1 warrior
Capital builds a settler. I think he can grab gem city, shouldn't take long to get bronzeville settled afterwards once an archer gets in place.
Gold mine up in 4 turns. Also clearing out some dye, this should also give me a quick commerce-injection. Also started teching festivals to get my quick markets up.

No 'real' barbs seen yet, just bears. One is making a nuisance of himself in the south so I'll probably withdraw a bit while I get another unit down there.

And in the far south (used to be north) my demon warriors have seen nothing on their way past the snow. Graveyard was looted by Serdoa, of course. Have seen no undead, so suspect gold or tech - most likely result too.

Demos:

Not very worried about GNP - I'm getting 18 commerce worth of tiles online very soon. A new city gets founded in 7-8 turns, but quickly starts working another 6-7 commerce. And markets wherever I can afford them. My cities should also be able to grow steadily - 4 turns from now I can go to 6 (7 cap). ~10 turns 7 (gems) ~15 turns 8 (cotton by bronzeville)
But of course, my main rival will be expanding too. Damn that man.

18 commerce will get you up to rival average...

Who do you think is Rival Best for commerce right now?
(Also, hmm... Arendel is CRE, right? She'll have a significantly inflated GNP compared to us, in that case, since we don't have a single monument.)
