[Spoiler] Desperados: The Black Sword & Agent

I'd say a golden age is probably the best use for the scientist. As you mentioned an Academy isn't so good and we don't want to bulb Philo if we're taking the war-path.

When you're slowbuilding units for an invasion is actually a pretty good time for a GA. You can get a temporary hammer advantage, turn it into a temporary army advantage and then attack before your opponent has a chance to fix that.

The only problem is, we would probably like to use the GA to revolt into some better civics too. So maybe we should delay it a bit if the extra bit of research would let us reach those civics by the end of the GA.

Oh, CH had offered a peace treaty when I logged on. I assume he'll accept if you re-offer.

We appear to be some distance from any useful civics. We could get Caste which would be handy I think. Could then get out some more GPs during the golden age, eg. merchant for a trade mission, 2 more GPs for second golden age, get to Knights as fast as possible, and pre-build HAs which will upgrade to Knights in the queue. It would be nice to make HR and one of Bureau/Vassalage too.

Regarding units; you should put more catapult builds in I think. They're the strongest unit we can build right now.

A peace treaty would be great. I was worried he was going to attack from Augsburg or otherwise find some weak point to exploit any moment now.
I whipped Walls into Adios Sabata, figuring that is our most vulnerable front with him-- even though it's stuffed full of units, visibility means he'd know exactly how many to bring to raze it. I think I will do the same in Johnny Oro. If he positions units 1NW of Lubeck he can look into it.

If we do get peace, then I want to take the garrison out of Sabata to reinforce an army for an invasion of the OTHER Rome:

I have 2 Swords in a galley along the southern coast to back up an attack on that 2nd Roman city as well.
I haven't simmed it yet, but my math is: A Shock, C1, Fortified Axe with no culture bonus has effective strength of ~12, a City Raiding C1 Shock Sword has effective strength of ~12, so 2 swords for each axe should do it.
He'll have 1 turn of warning to whip out another Axe, but because of turn split won't be able to promote it and it'll have no Fortify bonus, so a couple axes from Sabata would be enough to take that down. +1 More axe to finish off the spear.

Don't know what to expect in that Southwestern Roman city, but if this is the garrison he puts in a frontline city, I'm optimistic.

We've also received this quest:

We have libraries in 4 cities, 3 under construction already.
The reward looks like:
1.+2 research in one (triggering) city's library
2.get one ancient era tech

Seems OK..

I'm always up for attacking the other Rome. wink Though at this stage, CH has pissed me off so much I really want to pay him back some time.

2 Swords per axe should work. You should assume he's able to whip an extra one too. If you can get a catapult for the attack that would be great too, would probably give the swords odds on the rest of the axes. It's probably not worth delaying the attack for one if your already have the units assembled though.

That quest is rather crap isn't it ...

I'm glad to hear you're on board the revenge bandwagon too hammer

I have reconsidered the Map Trade with Whosit/Mongolia and will re-offer it. We have just the two settlements pressed against him, which he already has eyes on, and the map we give him will give him no information on other vulnerable spots he could exploit. It may, in fact, clue him in to the extent of HRE pressing against him and incite some trouble between those two! And it would be nice to see how Elum/Mack are doing way off in the fog.

Peace signed. Johnny Oro's borders popped, claiming that Sentry Hill that would've been a nuisance.

I have 5 swords on the Roman Front + misc., 5 axes need another turn to come in from Sabata.

Give 'em hell, fellas!

TBS, the game is down at the moment. If it doesn't come back up in the next few hours, I won't be able to take it cause I have no time to do so in the morning.
If that happens do you mind covering? Only thing that needs to happen imho is moving that stack of axes into Badman's River. Then all forces will be in position to do the following:
1st turn Move 2W, onto the Forested Hill bordering Roman City, signalling hostile intent (if we are first half of turn, declare then to lock in turn timer)
2nd turn attack

We also need to produce some units to replenish the Sabata garrison, I guess Catapults are the strongest defender at the moment against Shock Axes?
I need to keep a healthy amount of Axes in that Roman city if we conquer it & plan to wall it up ASAP as an anti-Praetorian measure

I didn't notice your post, do you still want me to play? Looks like they're pausing for Whosit anyway.
