Found his Fortress with Jaer. Not sure what to do about it.

3 storm giants, a nightmare with unknown buffs, the black night, the necromancer. 3 invisible units (presumably storm giants or heroes, since I haven't seen any very rare summons anywhere yet.)

I'd say I haven't seen him cast invisibility but either, but I find it unlikely to notice an AI casting invisibility. So.. Heroes, storm giants, or night blades. I don't think night blades have high garrison rating though, so I assume storm giants would push them out.

Storm giants are annoying en masse for my bezerkers. No amount of armor slows them down. Although I did find blur, so I can abuse that. But with at least 1 main caster hero I can expect heavy dispelling waves. And life ward means my archangels can't do it by themselves, even with high prayer and supreme light. Which I can't cast anyway due to the spell ward.

Suggestions? (Also, I've found supreme light, charm of life, and crusade while crushing towers and myrror nodes. And still more to go, so hopefully some more books! Another sorcery book and spell lock would be amazing..)

Just realized he has flying fortress. I think I'm screwed. I can't use my bexerkers at all...

Gaah. So. I can't use any of my spells except blur; I can't use bezerkers and my only other cities are halfling (useless against flying fortress storm giants), high elf (pegasi?? Lol), and beastmen (manticores???).

That leaves angels or archangels, without magic support, and with spell ward crushing them...

Just disenchant the fortress before an assault?

I believe only dispelling wave can do city buffs now, not standard disenchant area. And I don't have dispelling wave.

Just figured out Reywind the Warrior Magw can cast flight. Now how do I protect him from the storm giants long enough for the beserkers to eat the defense?

Well, I don't think the berserkers make it alive to the giants, even if they can fly. But invisibility can help against them if you have it on items...not against the heroes with Illusion Immunity though. I wouldn't bet on the success of that plan.
The critical part is the level of the Necromancer hero inside.

I most definitely wouldn't try to hit the capital first if its warded, it's far too risky.

Yeah bit I need to stop him from casting ward/flying fortress on other cities. Othereise, I end up having to try to beat a lunatic AI to SoM.

And my bezerkers can have 7 HP per figure. Sure, Lionheart is dispellable, but every dispelling wave is something not actively killing Reywind or the bezerkers.

And I'll have blur. Effectively those giants will be strength ~12 ranged attacks. Even if they do max 12 damage and I don't block ANY, it will take 4 giants to kill one bezerker unit. And since I'll actually block ~1-2 damage per figure (so 2-4 per giant), and the giant will 'only' do like 10 damage per attack, that means it'll take closer to 7 giants to kill one unit of bezerkers.

Which means, at least 1 or 2 bezerkers should get into attack range, and they'll kill a giant every time they attack. I only need 2 to get 2 turns of attack to win.

Did you try scouting the city? Like, what the gear on the heroes and what the invisible units actually are?
Storm Giants are one thing, but if there are invisible heroes, especially if casters or powerful ranged, that can turn ugly fast. Or if they have enough defense to not get hurt from berserkers. You won't have prayer or other spells to raise their attack, and their buffs will likely get dispelled. Or if the heroes move faster than the berserkers or teleport.

Oh, and what if your flight fails to go through the counter magic?

No I haven't been home to play, so no scouting. But basically if teywind doesn't work then I fall back on multiple stacks of archangels/full artifact hero squad. But since both of those will take years to prepare I basically have to try reywind first.

And yeah, if there's a 30 defense hero I'm hosed. Nothing I can get will beat that.

November 1412 - April 1413:

Two major changes: First, good news: He's replacing his storm giants with gorgons. Or at least, there's now a visible gorgon in the city. Maybe it pushed out an invisible unit.

Second, bad news: He's disjunctioning charm of life/crusade as soon as I cast them. I'm trying to disjunction his Aether Binding, but he's recasting it immediately (so his Aether Binding negates my specialist bonus, allowing him to disjunction my globals easily. Only takes him one turn to cast disjunction, not that I have spell blast to stop it anyway. But at least he doesn't have spell blast?)

Minor note: I've picked up Holy Arms. If I could keep my globals, my bezerkers would have +7 to hit (undispellable in combat).

What's it all mean? My bezerkers won't have enough hp to survive super nasty ranged garrisons; but he might not have super nasty ranged garrisons! No idea what it will end up with. Now a waiting game.

On the other side of things: His army strength is now slightly above mine (+5% or so); his power production is also slightly above mine (+10% or so). Given I've managed to raze a few (4) of his cities, and claim another myrran node; and given I win about.. 3/4 of the battles we have (which are usually massive 9v9 buffed crazy things against each other, so huge army strength on either side), I feel this is bad. He's losing more troops, and more power production than I am, but he's still gaining faster than I am. Not. Good.

Also: I've now located 10 myrran nodes. Of these, I now have 3 melded, while he has.. 2 melded. So I have 21 nodes, against his 2. And I have Astrologer. Gaaaah.

Quadruple (quintuple?) edit: OMG HE FAILED A DISJUNCTION OMG OMG. Ok fine, I had just disjunctioned his Aether Binding, but that's the first time I've ever actually SEEN an AI fail a disjunction.

Another update: He has sky drakes. I THINK I can now safely wait for his fortress to weaken itself by summoning sky drakes.

My power production (not including things like Enlightenment and Libraries) is 2298; then I have about 400 in things that are auto research/skill. In case anyone cares, the AI has 30 cities at this point (1 troll, 3 dwarves, about half and half beastmen/draconian for the rest).
