I too would have expected Creature for KANGAROO + CENTAUR + PHOENIX. I'm pretty sure I've seen that used recently for similar combos. But maybe I'm being too picky?
Meat would would indeed clue KANGAROO + PIE + HAM, but could it also have pulled SERVER into play; perhaps acceptable if that were grey, but not if it were black? So I still think PIE + HAM is possible.
If we think it's HAM + a creature, how do we weight CENTAUR v PHOENIX? How comfortable are people with "birds are animals" rather than the biblical (IIRC) division into "birds and beasts", compared to the CENTAURS definitely exactly half-ANIMAL nature? I could see someone going either way ...
Oh, and Pindicator's half-suggestion of "A KANGAROO is an Animal while a CENTAUR is a PART-animal" is now also gnawing at me; but I think it's less likely than the other two possibilities
I'd like to try HAM next, because if it's
wrong I think we have an out with the pair of mythological beasties and an unlimited clue (assuming there's a nice 3-clue to finish the rest), whereas if we guess a critter and it's wrong we've still got three possibilities. I don't think it's PIE + a creature.
And T-Hawk has been decisive while I've been dithering and drafting; I don't blame him at all
. This has not been a fast-paced game.
EDIT: I prefer HAM over CENTAUR now that we've seen PHOENIX. I like the "Animal is a steer away from part-human logic".
