[SPOILER] On This Day

He upgraded his defenders and attacked out with the rifle and the knight:

I bombarded with the catapults and then attacked.

Annalist has been captured without losses!

I don't expect him to take this, but I offered it because I doubt I would capture any more than that in the next 10 turns.
If he's scared enough or demotivated from losing cities there's a small chance he accepts.

SD didn't do too well capturing AT's islands:

He chased two rabbits.

We settled a GG for a military academy in Ruff's ex-capital. It already had a +2 XP general in it. You never have enough military pumps smile
If you're wondering about the Hindu buildings, Tarkeel built the wonder (long time ago) that gives them +2 hammers. I've been building them in production centers.

Overall Ruff's lands are looking good these days. Even Icarian finally got back its rice tile from Cairo, so it can start growing.

In our actual capital we started the Ironworks. It is painful to choose it over 5-6 Ships of the Line, but the sooner we build it the sooner it will pay off.

AT's time is coming to an end. He did good against just Tarkeel, but Cairo tipped the scales. He asked for some resources and I sent them to him.
We have eyes on Cairo's stack (healing at Redcloak), and Tarkeel has nothing threatening near us. I have sent some workers to scout since they've ran out of things to do.
I am interested to see what the two will do next. If they go at each other, do we help one side? Or do we just deal with SD, who might just be in it for the love of war now rather than gains.

Cairo stack moving away from Tarkeel border:

We've been getting closer on peace treaty with SD, this is the offer I sent this turn:

These are critical times. I think if SD and Cairo remain hostile to me, I have no choice but to try to ally with Tarkeel, though that probably means he wins the game.

I agree, allying with tarkeel is the only option.

What's everyone's tech like

Cairo researching Rifling, SD Steam Power. Cairo might upgrade his cuir stack to cavalry, though it won't be cheap.

War with SD is over (for now)

I tried getting Gemini 3 back, but he wouldn't budge. I accepted white peace. We want to dissuade Cairo from attacking us.
We lost these two cities in the screenshot and John Wickliffe in the other island. We gained 1 mainland city (Annalist) and had to re-settle one (Sarai).

He has another stack on the other side of his empire that he used to take AT cities on that side. I think that's the stack that we had a staredown with.

Cairo did not agree on OB, and Tarkeel didn't send back iron/horse/copper. Maybe they are still going strong with the previous triumvirate.

Cairo didn't attack this turn. No eyes on his stack now. He has no roads to my southern cities, but that could change.

Overview:

Demos at 100% tech:

Graph that imo best shows how the war hurt us (and SD):

Food loss is whips + pillaged fishing nets + lost cities. Tarkeel and Cairo did not have to go all out to conquer AT.

Still thinking about what tech to go for next. We just got Rifling. I was previous thinking Mil Trad for Cavalry, but honestly it would be too expensive to be worth it to upgrade our knights.

Also need to change civics soon. I don't think we can do it in GA, unless we pick up one GP from a tech (Physics?).

Cairo double moved so seems we are good for now.

Tarkeel sent back fish for fish, which is at least something.

Saving gold atm. Thinking Communism might be the way to go actually, we get both the free GP and the civic.

Then we'd swap to Free Speech, Caste System, State Property and Theocracy in GA.

Ironworks is nice:

I'm building rifles and ships of the line from production cities. Snuck in a few more Hindu buildings in some locations.

SD sent copper for copper. I can't trust SD, but as much as I'd want to take back our cities, if we don't want Tarkeel to win we can't be fighting each other.

I chose to go for Communism tech. Philo (done) -> Edu -> Lib -> Sci Method -> Communism.

Monasteries obsolete at Sci Method. Do they keep their hammer bonus still?

No.
