Yeah, this is turning into a feeding frenzy. The hard part now is to balance the risk of being countered vs not getting your share of the spoils. Ideally you do want to fight his units in the open now, as his ability to reinforce is going to plummet.

in seriously what the fuck news:

Not shown because the screenshot didn't take, but Xist has a pike on one of the green hills. Somehow this guy picked up engineering despite only barely limping to currency like 20 turns ago and losing 6 cities in the past few turns. And I thought Guilds by turn 136 or so was pretty fast given the circumstances! I skipped Code of Laws and a bunch of other junk! Well, triple gold will always take you places if nothing else will.

At this point I just want to crush Neapolis ASAP instead of trying to run deeper. Not sure if it will even be worth it to push for his capital land right now. It means running through a bunch of hills that will take 3-4 turns to cross by which point he will have set up castles and whipped a ton more units.

Made a mega doomstack right outside Neapolis. Either we go in next turn or wait for another cat to catch up while bombarding. We'll see if he decides to throw the cat stack at us.

Domestic overview for t150 to come in another post. I'm just feeling annoyed at the situation right now.

domestic situation:

The silver lining is that, for all the whipping we did for war prep, very few cottages went unworked. Mainly it was whipping off windmills and mines.

Our former capital is regrowing onto its last windmill after being whipped down a bit. I think that feeding the fish to the city to the west is the right call - there's green land there, and the best I'd be able to do with the food here is run a couple of non Rep specialists.

Creation was also whipped heavily, but regrew quickly enough with a suite of windmills to go with the moai tiles now becoming available. In the GA I'll be able to swallow up most of this city's BFC and it will become a monster.

The Diamond Age I did not do much whipping at, to keep the cottages growing for Atlas Shrugged. Now that Atlas Shrugged is ready to start taking them all in preparation for Bureaucracy, I will stagnate this city on a couple of windmills.

Metamorphosis was getting plenty out of the loaned pigs and its snazzy new castle and windmills. Eventually with biology this city might be able to work two whole farms and give up the pigs.

The Good Earth is one of two newer cities founded in the west. With the granary in place it just needs to grow onto a set of juicy green windmills, lumbermills, and cottages.

The Forgotten Soldier also continues to grow on its useful tiles, having whipped another settler for us recently.

Anathem steadily becomes a monster, growing on the silks tiles. Irrigation will help with the food surplus issue and feed more lumbermills.

War and Peace is also capped until biology on how many tiles it can used. But it will be a decently productive military pump or wealth builder.

Dune continues to steadily pump out military while getting GA #2 ready.

Carmilla was whipped pretty heavily, and is getting more farms and windmills added to make growing to a huge size easier. It's been a very productive city for military production.

Julius Caesar also took the brunt of whipping in the east, growing back onto windmills rather slowly. Slowly it will give up the cottages to atlas shrugged and stagnate on mills.

Watership Down was a city where I really didn't mind whipping, given its lack of productive tiles outside of serfdom. Yearns for biology...

Atlas Shrugged struggled for a bit for a lack of happiness when moving outside of HR and Representation. Now it is growing back to be ready for the Bureau switch. I am hoping once that is done our weak research situation can be rectified.

Homegoing is planned to stagnate. The grass farm will be given up to a city I shall found shortly that uses the three incense resources to the north.

Huckleberry Finn has been whipped a fair amount after generating the Great Merchant, being so close to the front. As long as the cottages are being worked, that's fine with me.

Not covered in this overview are the three cities captured from Xist, yet to be renamed. I'll go over them when it is determined if I will push for Rome or not. Given how many of Xist's cities were razed by the other players, I gather his city placement has not been the best...

I am thinking with the second GA the right move is to go for Serfdom. I do not think it is worth keeping slavery for a super long while when the next big military tech for us is cannons. We will have enough natural production I think to slow build cannons when they do arrive and the extra commerce + hammers will be really helpful.

t151: so, i think xist fucked up. but i am going to need your advice on this one, tarkeel. turn isn't ended

Instead of stacking all his units in Neapolis, he spite whipped and abandoned it. So I could just take it, getting my first courthouse of the game.

I moved one sacrificial sentry Phract forward and look what I found, his entire military (he gave up on defending his stuff to the east, which Aetryn is slowly gobbling up with his mace / axe stack, lol). So the question is:

Do we move forward with everything but the cats?

Do we just sit in Neapolis and let him try to counterattack?

Do we sign for peace? Bing just peaced out after taking one colony and re-settling another.

That's enough catapults (and hitters) to wipe our stack. Be wary of it. Good call on the sentry, I think you spotted a trap, as the first (smaller) stack looks very beatable, but the other 13(!) catapults will wipe us.

Up to you if you want to try for peace or wait for our own catapults to join in, but we'd need a fairly large stack to soak that collateral.

Pikes indicate that he has 3-move though, and can hit Neapolis from outside our range to counter, so that city won't really be possible to hold long-term.

What should be the plan, then? Pull back outside of Neapolis and counterattack if he moves in range? If we raze the city if he recaptures (losing the city walls he whipped!), it would mean we can resettle 1W for the pig.

He can't hit the city this turn, so hold in it and offer peace.

The rest of the phracts fortify in Neapolis. Sent white peace to Xist. We'll see what things look like next turn.

Another tricky turn:

Xist killed our sentry phract at the cost of a pike. He did not reoffer peace.

I didn't realize Xist's defenses in the west were so weak that he let Bing roll up all the way to the triple gold site. What a pain in the ass. Feels a bit like kingmaking.

I get the feeling Xist is planning to whack Neapolis, since he whipped again. Should we pull back? Haven't ended turn yet.

This smells like Superdeath's influence. He'll gladly give away the rest of the empire to kill the first to declare war, in the attempt to scare people away from declaring in other games. It does feel very much like kingmaking.

Not sure if Neapolis is worth trying to keep.
