Our open borders with Shoot the Moon are so far a win for him, as he has trade routes with us but not vice versa. Hopefully our settling of Moai (needs a better name) next turn will rectify this.
Also, we're 4th in crop yield.

Darrell: ok we teched writing, so you should be able to ask for OB
I met Kyan
I believe plako setup this: A overlpas B, B overlaps C, C overlaps D, D overlaps E, E overlaps A
met is wrong...I spot his borders is a better way of putting it

You're in position to settle on our continent, someone else will be in position to settle on yours, etc. That's how I think it goes.
As for resource trades, my understanding is that we will trade our first two spare happiness resources with your first two spare happiness resources. Of course we might not end up with happiness resources that the other party lacks, but if we both do, we'll give each other priority in trading.

Maybe Trading Post as a name for our moai city? It will bridge the ocean with our culture, giving us trade routes to Shoot the Moon, and it will be a lighthouse-dependent city.

Response from darrell, which you've read already presumably.
Quote:I think that is EXACTLY how plako set it up. Quite clever really, I'm curious to see the whole thing :-).
Your understanding of the resource trade agreement mirrors mine. I have not defogged my continent but I know for sure I'll have spare Incense. I have to think there will be more.

Fine by me. I was trying to think of a corn-related pun but it's a bit late at night to be truly effective...

Imteresting idea. Investment could do that, it has three food resources.

Our intrepid workboat continues unabated.
We touch borders with Shoot upon settling Trading Post. I could see them before settling, but they seemed to be second ring so I didn't change our plans. I presume that his borders have only just expanded since they were visible before I moved the settler.
We had plenty to spare on Writing, so I worked the corn in Trading Post and the plains hill mine in (the) Capital.

Our demographics on T45 aren't looking so bad having settled our fifth city.
We're still lagging in crop yield, although this will be due to our small city size.
What helped us get Writing so easily, apart from the fact that Shoot and darrell (and maybe others) had researched it before us, was trade routes kicking in with Shoot.
We still have capacity for more trade routes, which will be a nice boost to our economy.

Probably worth mentioning: Shoot the Moon founded his 4th city, and Darrell hooked up stone and completed Stonehenge.
I zoomed out as far as I could and got a screenshot of our circumnavigation effort:
By my count that means we need to travel 16 tiles east and 17 tiles north to circumnavigate.
This also means the map dimensions are not 32x58 like in the sandbox, but 50x50. Not sure why that works out to the same distance maintenance.
I have to run.
