I'm reading the other threads now. GG all and congratulations to whoever won.
The Second Chance Saloon [Banter Thread]
|
I'm sorry for whatever part I had in the game becoming unfun for anyone, when I proposed the game I was mainly looking for a game which would draw a crowd of folks I'd enjoy playing with and against. That obviously didn't work out, so lesson learned.
I wasn't proposing everyone concede, simply that neither Noble nor I had any legitimate interest in continuing. Given that I couldn't imagine anyone other than Commodore would object, a draw seemed appropriate. You can call it a win for us, a win for him, a draw... Hell, we can call Yuri the winner for being smart enough to get out before the miserable end. Anyway, good game to all.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?
When doing an "AI Diplo" game in the future, have you considered simply not having a "banter" thread? The chatter between players here seemed to serve no purpose to this outside observer beyond 1) players attempting to do diplomacy in a no-diplomacy game and 2) increasingly passive-aggressive comments towards one another that made everyone angry. I'm not sure that I see the reasoning behind these threads. Was it actually fun getting harassed by the other players? Didn't seem like it from what I was reading, but I wasn't in this game, so I dunno.
In the future, whenever someone starts pulling the "gift away every unit and Great Person" stuff, it's time to call the game. Nothing good will result. Commodore Wrote:Seven, go die in a fire, or a least restrict yourself to scolding the poor bastards in your own games. What the fuck? SevenSpirits Wrote:What the fuck? Rereading Banter Thread, I'll go with leave it. Banter threading 'tis a sound notion, albeit obviously a failure in this case.
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.
I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out.
I agree with that post of Seven's completely, so if that all it takes to get a silly "go die in a fire" one-liner then sign me up.
Aha. I guess you are equating my imaginary question-and-answer duo with actually telling a real person to die in a fire. I highly disagree with this, but if you felt personally attacked by my post, I am very sorry.
Regarding the banter thread contents I suggested you guys stop back then: having seen the game degenerate further and finally end like it did, I feel more certain in my recommendation than before, though of course I respect the players' abilities to run the game as they see fit. Though I think this has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt to me that AW is just better and easier for MP and ultimately leads to a better experience for everyone. Which, whenever Noble comes back around, he'll be happy to tell us he said right from the start.
