Thanks WarriorKnight, let's see what Pindicator can do on a team for once.

It was an attempt at a joke - one that doesn't read half as witty in the cold light of morning as it was in my head. Certainly not meant as an insult!

I'd better stick to business.

Five RINGs
GOLD medal
STADIUM is where a lot of events are held

Washington- Olympic Mountain Range, just went backpacking there this summer!
Ring
Stadium

Don't see any others as sure as those

*Ring - the Olympic Rings are a very well-known logo
*Gold - gold medals; 'going for the gold'
*Stadium - the Olympics is played in stadiums and frequently the main stadium is called Olympic Stadium
*Point - many of the Olympic events use a point-based judging system
*Date - the Olympics occur on a four-year cycle

I feel good about the top 3 but I'm open to it not being Stadium since the clue is Olympics plural and I'd feel better about Stadium with the singular clue

Olympics being plural makes me confident T-Hawk is referencing the mountain range in Washington.

Interesting point about the plural. I agree that does seem to steer slightly away from the simple "games" link (it also rules out BRIDGE for the liner "Olympic", but that was always a stretch).

I've never heard of the Olympics Range, but that means little. If we do end up going with Pindictator's reasoning, I still think RING and GOLD. The symbol is obvious, and the link between GOLD and Olympics is clear (yeah, some championships in individual sports also award G/S/B medals, but the association with Olympics is strong in popular culture). STADIUM is more general and hence less likely, along with other words such as POINT.

Just like shallow thought, I saw RING/STADIUM/GOLD as by far the strongest clues.
Of course, all three of them would a better fit with Olympic instead of Olympics.

I have not heard of the Olympics Range (not surprising, as I am not American) so my fallback would have been POINT.
It doesn't seem like we have consensus on which word to drop to fit in WASHINGTON (pindicator would drop GOLD, shallow thought STADIUM) so I actually prefer the original list. Those are all words we can be expected to guess, so will not be worse than grey. We can fill in any gaps with +1s later. I won't point yet in case someone strongly objects.

I could absolutely see Washington as Blue. T-Hawk is usually on-point and so I don’t think it’s likely but it seems way more like to be Blue than Gold.

Point to Ringsince we all have it.

I favor Gold next and then I guess Washington due to the old ‘if you had to clue Gold, Ring, and Washington what would you use...’
