Thanks ElGrillo, it was harder than i thought when i started to actually write it down, i didnt know if it were too long or too short or if it was too easy or too hard (i mean of level required to understand). So if you feel like i can improve them for the next ones, please do tell me it!.

Bellarch took Vicky while mjmd dedlurks him. Is that i coincidence? i dont think so hahahhaha.
I wonder if they were trying to get again vicky of India. If thats the case i was so lucky from being before them on the picking. I ve been thinking a bit wether is better org than fin right now. having that river being fin might make us get more gold than org. But cheap courthouses might get more gold saving than those fin cottages... I think org saving is completely passive and the fin bonus need the city to work that tile, which of course you want to work it but sometimes it might not be good for some reason? not sure.
So i want to explain my thinking into Asoka over Mansa. One of the strenghts of SPI is that serfdom now is better and earlier so now it does makes sense to change civics with more frecuency, but fin and serfdom are kind of opposite in my thinking as Tarkeel and Amica said in their post, since a fin leader wants his rivers with cottages and serfdom want them with watermills, ofc you need balance between those 2.
So after some thinking i still prefere org, its less map dependent since cheap courthouses goes always nice and fin is best as much rivers you get, and i still dont know how long is that river and how many i will find. But ffor being honest right now i feel a bit bad of having picked an SPI trait, my brain is regreting that idea of making experiments with SPI in the very first game i m playing without dedlurker. I would have been more safe if i had picked something easier to play. But now its time to get focus on the game and try my best to make it work. Any lurker has any recomendation of detailed threads with SPI that i should read out?
Some general things that I try to balance with SPI. I basically plan the next 10 turns with these things in mind
Unit building vs buildings: Try to run Police State, Vassalage, Theocracy for units and OR for buildings. Worker turns: When running serfdom try to avoid building roads on grasland and plains. Do roads when you are not running serfdom. Binary research: Notice which multiplier (science or gold) is higher for your civ and run commerce civics like bureaucracy, Free speech, serfdom, free market whenever you have the highest modifier. Also keep civic cost in mind. If you don't plan to build buildings in the next 5 turns then switch out of OR into paganism in the early turns
Mods: RtR CtH
Pitboss: PB39, PB40, PB52, PB59 Useful Collections: Pickmethods, Mapmaking, Curious Civplayer Buy me a coffee
Thanks charriu, nice to see those thoughts, i didnt thought about roading on serfdom and obv it makes much sense!
It would be great to get to Free speach or wherever, but i ve never get to calendar in any PB so thats thinking im going to get really far, but thanks for the trust!
Thanks Rusten for coming by, i read PB46 of Pindi, You, OH, and Krill, It was nice in the beggining but once you were runing huge amounts of cities the reporting werent as good. I didnt know about PB41, ill take it a read!
Thanks to your words i remembered that OH posted a spreadsheet on General Discussion (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1...edit#gid=1) Sadly i just seen your thread of PB41 isnt recommended, either way ill take it a look. Anything i learn is nice! So this are the threads of SPI that were recommended: PB5: Krill playing Brennus https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/show...p?tid=4792 PB27: Krill playing Monty https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/show...p?tid=7685 PB33: Scooter/Sullla playing Monty https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/show...p?tid=8075 PB33: Dreylin playing Gandhi https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/show...p?tid=8079 PB35: Nicolae playing ASOKA https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/show...p?tid=8287 (Not recomended)PB35: Mackoti playing Mansa Musa https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/show...p?tid=8295 (Not recomended)PB41: Rusten playing Saladin https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/show...p?tid=9436 PB42: OH playing Isabella https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/show...p?tid=9456 PB49: Miguelito playing Justinian https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/show...p?tid=9894 PB49: Fintourist playing Isabella https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/show...p?tid=9897 This list is really huge, there is more people with SPI but not recommended, in case i run out of lectures, which seems unlikely ill try to get to them. Also, i ve read all the threads after PB49 so thats the reason i didnt put them. Although i might get another look at Mig Pb54 again.
Charriu made some great suggestions for playing as SPi, one thing I’ll add is you can settle some new cities, revolt into Caste System for 5 turns, and run an Artist specialist at size 1 to pop borders without needing to research Music or bring a missionary.
Nice tip!
I am at 13 page of Rusten PB41 thread and its really nice in terms of Strategy, i would have enjoyed a lot to see the rate of Workers cities and things like that. I mean a bit more of micro. But also another thing that he sais which might be pretty basic, but i hadnt think about its to transform the food lead into gold lead (in that case to get fast to Astronomy, i hope thats not going to be a thing in PB61) and also into a production lead with workshops. I was thinking that sefdom watermills and windmills could do that, but if i use Caste i would need some workshops... Interesting. I was thinking on making stonheinch fast with the UU of india plus starting with mist. I was even thinking on making SH while growing instead of warriors then make a settler whip it an OF with chopto finish the wonder. Then i saw the wise words of Rusten in that PB when DZ took SH at turn 29 and they were not really good. So im thinking on trying to slow build it. But also Incas has mist start and they might try to get it since their terraces doesnt give culture anymore. Thanks for writting some ElGrillo!
I finished to read PB41 of Rusten, and i missed a bit to see what improvements he did and in which amount too. Im going to read out now PB5 of Krill which the spreadsheet sais that he tried to post a lot of info. Im in the 30 page since i started to read that game for PB59. Im also reading mig PB49 thread, but then i saw India to be really different on that mod, so i wont get as many things as i thought i would.
But right now it seems we need to talk about picks. JackRB: Julius Caesar of Khmer We know nothing about him, but if his start is similar to our, as it seems i would say this combination would be the strongest for my starting. Having ORG which i rate as the best trait right now, and IMP as a good early game trait. I thought IMP for a map this big wasnt as needed, i would have picked EXP probably. But still nice combination. He has SD as dedlurker so if Jack gets his influence i expect him to expand and chocke into someone. rekenner: Cathy of Mali This guy seems the most skilled of the game, i would be really scared of not getting into bankrupcy with his traits. He seems to report a lot so i really expect to learn after the game. His plans seems to the expanded fast get the cheap MC and limp into currency with the mints boost. I would like him far from me pls. Joshybravo963: Cyrus of Rome Joshy is special, i had much fun with him on PB59, although we are so differents, he enjoy the farmer gambit a lot, but i think he will be much more carefull right now. But then, Amica also likes to be a bit behind on Power for what i could see, this will be scary the more Amica is on this game, the hard part is that josh usually disapeas and doesnt tell you nothing, im not sure he is going to change in that too for this game. Amica is really engaged with other 2 games so im not sure how much time he will be able to spend on this one. I think Josh is the legit SD student, and i spect him to go really warmongering. I wouldnt like to be close to them either. Vanrober: Asoka of India This guy is a noob that wanted to have fun with SPI for his very first time. I dont expect much from him xD. I guess he will try to get SH and Mids, and then try to get any monk wonder if he is able to. Not sure if it will work BING_XI_LAO: Hannibal of Mongols Interesting Pick right here, It seems the plan is to use Ger for later atack boosted by CHA (as more whiping and semi cre trait) and also with FIN that will give hima bit more gold for that purpose. Hopefully he gets behind on expansion a bit. Im sure he will learn a lot with GKC im really gratefull for his dedlurking on PB54. bellarch: Victoria of Inca Not sure what happened here, if Mjmd took him because their playing stiles are identical or just because he though we was one of the worst and needed some more feeback from him. Either way they seems to be the main threat to get SH, Mjmd has to be super annoyed of PB60 and maybe try to push it faster? not sure. their plan seems obv, expand fast get a religion or SH on the way and boost his empire with FIN and IMP and cheap Terraces. REally strong pick i would say. Again it seems stronger if mjmd is helping a lot. It seems that is going on since their post are a lot and Mjmd almost pairs Bellarch's posts. 20 post vs 16 post, pretty paired. JesseL: Churchill of Germany This guys seems one of the worst of this game, he voted for Noble, asked for ragging Barbarians, and Mjmd paired him with TBS. He also seems not posting a lot, i really hope they are not talking through discord, since the less TBS helps the better for our game :P Nah just kidding, i hope they both go well on the game, i wouldnt like any of them to be more food than i am. PRO will help him to expand without losing money in the begining and CHA wil lhelp him whip people out and cheap monuments. Seems playable. I guess they took germany since Khemer was taken for starting tech. Whoever reads this, i hope you dont feel myself mean in any case, this are my first impressions and i would probably be wrong. But i think it would be fun to see after game if it was as i was thinking on the begining. |
