Best look up how they did it back in the last AW game. I remember they choose civ, leader and starting position. Looked like a good system back then.

Would probably be a three-pass snake where you also pick starting location, if you want a natural looking map. Could also go for a shattered mirror and randomize locations.

I'd be happy to lurk rather than play, I do have a bit of a Civ itch, but don't want to be in the "source of free cities" tier smile Whatever works best

Great, that's right.

I like the three round snake pick, assuming non-mirrored starts.

Beautiful, that's a Battle Island.

I plan to work on the map tomorrow, but need to know if you want a shattered mirror (ala PB60) or natural-looking map (like PB61 and PB63). I think I know how I can turn the natural-ish map above into something more mirrored but with shattering of resources.

Might also want to consider some speed-start bonus, such as free archer. I'm thinking slightly lush starts with bananaforest and oasis, and 2-3 food resources.

E: With shattered-mirror everyone would know the full map, and which start is theirs, but not who their neighbors are.

I'd prefer natural looking, but the start juicing is great. Archer for defense is what we did before too.

PB50 was CG3 Archer which was not allowed to leave the capital until T50 iirc

Based SOLELY on that picture/map.. Bottom left/top left looks the most defensible. Can place a city on the hill to the NW or SW and not have to worry about that side due to the mountain, meanwhile every other position has to "actually" worry about it.

Im Perfectly fine not playing in an AW small tight map. Favors micro imo over macro.
"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. [Image: noidea.gif] In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."
