I know I'm late to the party, but just to be 100% certain on the rules, desert floodplains is ok with normal desert resources, like gold or salt?

The rule is whatever's legal for that particular tile, as in would it appear in an automatically generated map. I haven't had a chance yet to look at the XML that DaveV pointed out, but if it's anything like base, I don't think resources are allowed on flood plains.

Flood plains or oasis may not contain a resource, unless that resource would normally appear in the desert (gold, incense, salt, copper, iron etc. - but no corn or wheat!

That sounds like a yes for fp resources so long as it's a desert resource.
