Epic Eight - ENGLAND

Whew, finally, I finished the work. Spent a lot of time on the report this time, I hope you enjoy it. As always, criticism more than welcome wink.

my Epic 8 report

The game could have been much shorter, if I paid attention to every winning strategy in the end. The most interesting part, however, is the opening, with the first wars. I was really squeezed at the beginning, and I was lucky that Hatty decided to found NW the second city.

Commenting the other reports, I see that the key was to expand enough to be able to keep the tech pace, and simultaneously keep good relations with everyone. Caesar grew so strong in most games, that fighting him would have been a suicide, and indeed, the only one who faced such a situation, notoptimal, ended up economically screwed. Still, you did a great job in the opening, but failed to expand enough IMO.

I'm looking forward to the completion of the reports of Kylearan and Bede. I still hope to see some report from Sirian, as he stole my record for "first to sign in", having created the thread. I made the first reply, if the only one who posted before me in that thread didn't write any report, I'd be more than disappointed. lol

Seriously, any chance we'll see you competing again, Sirian?

My English has to improve. A lot.

Just a bump to say the story's done!

mucco, love the story! We land the same victory in the very same year, but you do it almost by accident, while aiming for another victory type.

I was surprised to see the Mali come at you so quickly. I faced more pressure from Hattie from the beginning while Saladinwas a cultural threat to the south, but distant. One thing that may have deterred Mansa in my game was that once my first warrior was trained I parked him on a hill between the two of us and never saw a Mali settler on my side of the choke.

Good game!

What ho chaps, seems I drew the Jolly-old English for the potluck:

The Report

Unfortunately, I have yet to finish the report (I've just got back from vacation and hadn't had time to complete it before I left). I have placed a link at the end for scoring purposes, and hope to have the rest completed by the end of the week.

Seems we English subscribe to the "Fashionably Late" school of thought! lol

This is my report: http://www.cs.hmc.edu/~cvinson/civ4/epic8/index.html.

I found the game generally fairly annoying because of some things that happened, though I managed a decisive victory. I have to say this game confirmed my lack of fondness for pangaeas and similar maps where you expect to have to deal with all your opponents pre-Astronomy.

well, I fought Caesar and took half of his empire, he showed some resistance, but most of the issues I faced was WW.
Actually after Egypt handed me her cities the game was done and over which is a pity. Thought with such a crammed start to face more resistance, but at monarch the AI is a mere pushover

Would it been possible to add the Workers for all Civ's in the Scenario and delete them for the player-civ in the coresponding startfiles (= open each of the 8 files and delete the worker) or is this difficult to do? (Have not used the worldbuilder much )
