Never an air unit?!? I figured all of the good players have done some late game waring, as AFAIK in the late game, nothing beats bombers bombarding units in a city.

I've never built air units except in SGs. Late game military micro just isn't my bag.

Would anyone mind explaining exactly what stealth bombers can do? I gave myself some in a separate Worldbuilder game and was puzzled.
Can they attack units that are damaged more than 50%?
(Do they have a restriction similar to what BTS catapults will have?)
Can more than one stealth bomber attack a stack in the same turn?

They have 3 missions.

1) recon, self explanatory. Cannot be shot down while reconning. Press "r", then click on a square, but it is important to sing "They tried to make me go to recon, but I said no, no, no" à la Amy Winehouse while doing so.

2) Bomb, press the "b" key and click on a city. You cannot do this in this variant with the sky gods. Reduces a city's defense, can be intercepted by fighters, SAMs or mechs.

3) Air strike. Press the "s" key, then click on enemy units, which may or may not be in a city. Each hit is aimed at one unit, usually the one with highest strength. Can reduce its strenght to maximum of 50% of it's power, but also causes collateral damage. This collateral damage also cannot reduce to less than 50% of the strength. Yes, you can attack the same unit/stack with more than one bomber.

When intercepted, then can be either lose health (heal with "h" key" as usual) or shot down (they die). Fighters can do the same missions but less effectively, but can also have the Intercept mission (press "i") to intercept planes on the IBT.

Why? If you kill a Great Person, you can use the Sky Gods outside your territory and they can do all activities, can't they?

game info page Wrote:The Sky Gods watch over and protect the Aztec people. As such, you are free to carry out any of the air missions of the stealth bomber (rebasing, reconnaissance, air strikes, and air bombing) within your own borders at all times. There is therefore never a cost to rebase the Sky Gods or defend your own territory.

However, the Sky Gods demand sacrifices if you wish to use their power against external foes (cities of barbarians or the other civs). To use the Sky Gods outside of your territory, you must sacrifice a Great Person (any type):

The sacrificial offering drives the Sky Gods into a frenzied bloodlust, allowing their unlimited use anywhere on the map for five (5) turns. After the five turns are finished, the usual rules apply once again; another Great Person must be sacrificed to use the Sky Gods again for another five turns. (Players can keep track of the number of turns by checking the F8 screen, which lists the remaining turns left in the game. Do your best to be careful here!)
I also have a question: It says you can use the Sky Gods for 5 turns outside your borders if you kill a Great Person and to keep track of this via F8. Does this mean you can use them 5 times or 6 times?

Example: F8 says there are 200 turns to go. You kill a Great Person and so you can use the Sky Gods until turn 195 (to go). You bomb on turn 200 (once), 199 (twice), 198 (thrice), 197 (4th time), 196 (5th time) and finally on 195 (6th time).

My question are:
  • Is this how Sullla expected us to do it?
  • Is this how people are doing it?
The second question is important for equity purposes.

Strange question...sounds more complicated than necessary to me. 5 turns does not equal 6 times, no? You burn a GP on turn 200, and can use the bombers for the first time. Use #2 on turn 201, #3 on 202, #4 on 203, #5 on 204 - 5 turns.

OK, fine, obviously I forgot that part.

From start of 200 to end of 195 is six turns, not five. If you sac at beginning of turn 200 you have to stop bombing at end of 196, not 195.

I totally agree (and maybe the original question is hair splitting) but I can easily see people saying 5 turns is 195 so I can use the bomber thru to 195. I suppose I am asking what others are doing. I will be using them 5 times over consecutive turns.
