[Spoilers] PBEM3 Map Planning

darrelljs Wrote:Let's see...Bismarck lacks Oil and Aluminum. Zara lacks Oil. Sury lacks Uranium. Boudica lacks Aluminum. Those are all easy to fix smile.

Any thoughts on the locations? Food? Resources?

Darrell

And Augustus lacks Oil as well. Lemme check for food/resources

Augustus has Oil, in the bottom left hand corner of the map. Silly resource bubble didn't show.

Bismark: plains wheat, Plains Deer
Brennus: Plains Hill Sheep, Plains deer
Zara: Plains river wheat, 3 FPs
Sury: Irrigated Corn (lake) and grass cow
Auggie: Irrigated corn (lake), and is that plains cow south of the gold?
Boudica: plains sheep

Strategic resources:
Zara has no horse
Sury has no iron
Auggie has no iron
Boudica has no copper

Other:
Bismark has almost no rivers
Brennus and Zara are on rivers
The other 3's caps are not on rivers but have lots of rivers around.

Ah see it now - his iron is also down there

The resources are currently rather unbalanced.

Zara has some of the best land currently but could do with another happy resource. Someone had gold at their capital (rome?) and one just outside. you could probably swap one of these for a food resource.

Bismarck is the main issue currently in my eyes. His land is much worse than the others. All plains with tundra compared to largely grassland. And the food resources he has got, which are few and far between, are all weak comparative to other civ's.

There seems to be a distinct lack of calendar resources also. Perhaps sprinkle a few of these in the less fertile regions to give more options with cities?

Options are good i think and currently each civ is going to struggle to find many good sites.

I think that those Calendar resources are largely removed from Highlands map, and I think the thought was that those would be added on the internal island

That's a lot of thinking! Ha.

I think you're probably right. Is the internal island still happening then? If so, it might be better to replace the gold resources with one particular type of calendar and put gold on the island to even things out?

To me Bismark's land is comically bad. The difference between the first two screenshots (all tundra + plains vs gold+pigs+corn+corn...) is striking.

I think if Bismark's start was changed to mirror the other 5 things would be roughly balanced.
