Krill's cities must therefore be:
215k:
1 @ size 5 = 90k
2 @ size 4 = 96k
1 @ size 3 = 21k
1 @ size 2 = 6k
2 @ size 1 = 2k
7 cities, 215k. That's...not good. I'm only at 6 cities (although about to pop a settler), and he has 20 pop points to my 17.

An astute observer may have realized that I switched techs mid-turn. I realized I should get Monotheism first, for OR, before going to HR to pick up Monarchy. I'll probably double-revolt to HR and OR.

Then it's go back, get Iron Working, so that a worker army can chop the southern jungle while I spam settlers to head west.

And I'm knocking out a quick academy at Earth; Earth was happy-constrained, so running specialists was a good way to deal with that (I whipped a LOT; most cities had 20-25t of anger at one point). Krill will think me an idiot if I build an academy, but on this map, keeping the slider at 40-60% is pretty easy, so it'll pay fairly well in beakers.

T90 overview:

I...have a bad feeling about this. That's not a good demographics screen.

My one hope: 2t to Monarchy, then a double-revolt to HR and OR. By being that much faster to HR/OR, I should have a chance to grow my cities well. This map is very low-happy, at least until Calendar and such come in, so my plan is to spam lots and lots of Quechua while growing cities, and then whipping out workers + settlers + whatever else may be needed (like some missionaries).

My priorities:
Sailing for Trade Routes
Iron Working (Jungle chopping...)
Currency

Probably going to grab Currency first, to better finance the other two. My current cities don't need IW immediately, so they can wait.

As Krill may have mentioned, I spawned a GSci. What he doesn't realize...is that I SETTLED yikes him. Long-term, the academy produces more beakers, that is true. However, I need the beakers now...and I'm effectively running 10-20% science right now. So, in the short- to medium-run, with some key techs coming soon, settling seemed stronger. He could have bulbed...Alphabet. That's really useful in a 2p NTT game...

Yes, I need more workers...lots and lots of workers. Also a way to productively use the hammers I have available, since the buildings are low-value (aqueduct, temple) or mediocre (monastery), and I also want to lay off the whip a little.

Hm: A possible Moai site: 1NW of the fish.

Currency isn't that far away; I can get it in 3-4 turns by burning through my surplus gold, and I kind of need the extra 15-20bpt, and the ability to build markets in some of my high-commerce cities. Krill founded CoL back in 275BC, but has yet to build any courthouses (because EP is 84/84 between the two of us). He's also up to 20 cities; I think I'm at 12 or 13? But I've got 4 settlers heading to different places, including claiming a Moai site in the center of the map. It's got 2 fish, 2 freshwater lake, and 10 water tiles. It'll also have 4 forests for chopping out a Terrace, work boats, and working on Moai. High distance maintenance, true, but it's a very strong city, and one that I need to grab before Krill's "exponential" empire catches up there.
I need to start expanding south, but have needed the workers to clear out the jungle, and that's going to mean that southern expansion is a slow process. Every new city that way will need 3-4 workers, and many of my older ones are getting the jungle cleared out now as they grow on spammed Quechua.

This isn't good...but with him having so many cities, a LOT of that GNP's extra culture, at least. But the Crop and MFG stats aren't good, that's for sure.

64 pop, so probably about 35-40 cottages being worked? I'm not going to pull up the game and count every last one of them.

I just finished COL. Next up: Civil Service; I'm working on a mixed-odds scientist/priest, and if it's a scientist, then the academy at Earth will be great, and why I'll need Bureau. If it's a priest, then that's a shrine, which is great as well (Krill was wise to do that for himself).

After that: It's up the bottom of tree, up to Banking, then grab Alphabet & of to Liberalism for Printing Press.

Banking before Alphabet is an interesting tech order. wink

Well, no spies and no tech trading. I can build Wealth, so being able to build research barely helps me at all; I'd rather work Wealth and take advantage of slider manipulation to get beakers.
