The Setup Customization Tool

Version 0.1f is out (I synchronized the version with the version of the Tweaker).

  • Added troubleshooting features
    • Title caption displays to which Magic.exe the Customizer connects to and writes to.
    • File cout_cerr.log is written with troubleshooting information.
    • Added markers (*) to signify which actions result in a change of Magic.exe
  • Added full Wizard-type editor on the tab sheet Picks.
  • Added "Randomize hero picks" button on the tab sheet Heroes: all hero abilities are changed into random picks.

You could also create starting conditions.

Emperor: You start controlling a continent with lots of medium sized cities and one large size capital.

King: You start controlling 3-5 small cities and a medium sized capital.

Lord: You start controlling a small city, your capital.

Peasant: You start controlling a settler and two units, and enough mp to cast spell of return.

Beggar: You start controlling a mid level hero of your choice and enough mp to cast spell of return. You must conquer a city to be able to continue playing.

It would be cool if you could chose the starting conditions of your opponents as well. Say, one emperor, three kings and you starting as a beggar.

Nice ideas! smile

Hi there!
What's the current status of the Setup Customization tool?
I try to run the Linux version on a Mac, but it doesn't work. Any tip?

Hi simone! smile

Could you elaborate a bit?
"it doesn't work" is not very informative...

The current status is that it works, but it is not quite so advanced as the Real-Time Game Tweaker.
Does that one work for you?

Hi there, yes you're right, I should have provided some more info smile

This is my output:

#!/bin/sh -v
DIRNAME=`dirname "$0"`
dirname "$0"
cd "$DIRNAME"
CMD=`ls MoMCustomizer-*`
ls MoMCustomizer-*
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH="$PWD"
./$CMD
./MoMCustomizer.sh: line 6: ./MoMCustomizer-0.1g: cannot execute binary file

And then it stops.

I'll check the Real-Time Game Tweaker.

Right!

Your output shows that your Mac can't execute the Linux binary.
I suspect you can't run a Linux program, that has been build for an Intel architecture, on a Mac.... sorry.

Same problem for the Real Time Game Tweaker. frown

Do you know of any good Map Editor?

By the way, on your Wizards2.txt file (great one!), there is one info missing on Table 4, which is Pathfinding (I found it looking at the Rangers, and double checked just in case):

Table 4: Movement flags (byte 18)

80 Merging 08 Flying
40 Mountaineer 04 Swimming
20 Forester 02 Sailing
10 Teleporting 01 Cavalry (note 7)
60 pathfinding

Thanks for the catch! smile
I've immediately updated the Wizards2.txt file.

As for a map editor, I know momgu1a4, which is an old graphical dos program that will run in DOSBox.
I've put a downloadable version here:
http://kaarsen.home.xs4all.nl/download/momgu1a4.zip

And Ayu mentioned a project named "momem" in this post:
http://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/showp...stcount=43
although I haven't used it yet (it needs Windows and it didn't work in my Linux system).
