Sorry, that was probably a bit snarky. I've been quite busy recently, but this weekend I might be able to do something of an update although no promises.

Final assault on Plako cost me 3 cannons, 2 inf, and 2 rif -- significantly less than I expected. I'm looking forward to finally being able to switch out of HR (to US) now that WW is gone. I'll post demog screenshots once that is done. I'm also going to redistribute my surviving army over the rest of my empire and then delete all the ancient units I had as HR defenders to save myself some money on unit costs.

This whole war thing is hopefully a perfect distraction for me to slip in and snag the internet...and immediately catch up in tech. (Note to self: next turn check Darrell and Nospace's hammers invested in to see if I have competition). Between that and having the highest GNP, I would at least have a shot at the space race, especially if that war drags on -- and I certainly hope it does!

As I'm sure you guys know I'm also selling military stuff to Dave. To me it serves two purposes: gets me gold (at a rate I'm not unhappy with since I have a better hammers rate into units than I do building gold) and also prolongs the war. That second reason is probably more of the reason, since the gold rate is good but not stellar. The big risk of course is that Darrell or Nospace get upset when they figure out I'm selling to Dave. My response if they bring it up would likely be to just say I'm willing to sell to the highest bidder, although I may overstate a bit what Dave is paying me (not too hard to do either, since Dave will already be paying me 6000 gold for the GS that they will obviously see payed to me). If that equal opportunity approach doesn't satisfy them, well I've seen their military (yay for EPs) and am not exactly cowering in fear of entering the war on Dave's side at this point; especially since the internet will complete for me before the NAPs cool down.

Speaking of that GS, I unfortunately birthed a second GE instead of the more likely GM, so I am likely done for golden ages for this game unless I can find a trade partner for it.

Oh man was I tempted to vote for Dave for a diplo victory. Would have been a hilarious end to the game, but at the same time I feel like it wouldn't really be an acceptable way to end the game, so I didn't. I'm half way tempted to vote for him, send Darrell the save, and then like a day later send him the real save where I don't vote for Dave just to see his reaction...

Alright I'm going to sleep on it, but I want lurkers opinions by tomorrow morning (yeah I know, me asking for lurker opinions isn't really fair considering how terrible this thread has been but yeah).

Do anything you feel like! You can always fork it afterwards into an alternate reality decided by blood and iron.

There's nothing wrong in voting in such a fashion in terms of rules or even ethics. I can't tell you how you should feel about it personally, though. This game has been all over the map in terms of those sorts of things anyway.

Why not vote for him? It seems cheesy on-face maybe because he's clearly "destined" to be wiped out, but such a late-game AP win doesn't really seem any worse to me than a middling power sneaking in a culture win while enormous empires an era ahead prepare for global conquest or a space win or whatever. It might not make sense from a logical perspective, but a large part of the point of the culture, dilo and religion victory options is to allow even weak, fading powers to win with clever play, and to punish powerful civs which aren't able to put them down first.


Plus nothing wrong with playing king-maker if you really don't think you can win the game on your own. Idk if you do indeed feel that way, but if so then it's not like you'll be throwing away your own game just to spite someone else.
