AFAIK the player host needs to be online in-game for it to work. There's no stand-alone program to host it. They've promised it in the future.....

Haha, volunteers? ![tongue tongue](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/RBOld/tongue.gif) I also read that to restart the game (reload for example), every player needs to be present. GMR works just fine.

Can't resist.

Well, you could start the game with just 5 players. It could even make sense from a turn pace standpoint.
Alternatively, we can start discussing settings, looking for someone to make a map, banning/choosing civs, etc. That should take quite a bit.

I'm fine with waiting, just interested for some rough guess.
Personally I prefer random maps, play the hand you're dealt with (Pindicator might have some counter arguments for that ![wink wink](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/wink2.gif) ). Fractal and Small Continents generate quite interesting and unpredictable maps. Bans.. umm keshiks?

I'm also fine with a random map.
We could, for the sake of diversity, ban the civs that were already chosen on the 2 previous PBEMs. We could also just ban the ranged cavalry civs, Arabia, Mongols and Huns.
What people think about Shoshone?

Okay, some changes to last game:
Map size small -> normal (need more space imo! especially if pangaea)
9 CS -> Default CS (never really understood limiting CS. Now they are even more needed with trade routes and embargoes)
Pyramids unbanned (now requires Liberty to build them)
Diplomatic victory unbanned (it was revamped)
100% must ban is Assyria. Think Huns or Mongolia, except they can take cities down even easier and also get free techs by doing so.

I like Small Continents with low sea level, creates really unique snaky maps, but also has potential to be highly unbalanced. Would need a map maker for that.
