Screenshot didn't take, but moving west with the scout is no longer safe as a panther appeared between it and the capital. I moved to the forested grass hill 2SE and found a hut 2S in a nice, defensive jungle tile, which can't be reached by known animals. Hoping for tech #2, even if it's the last 25 beakers of hunting. Workboat nets clams next turn.

It was only 7 hours since you posted that!






Hut yielded 70 gold, which is disappointing, but palatable. That is a lake, as the plains tile 1N of the settler has fresh water.

Obligatory scouting post. I should probably head back to unfog those tiles near the planned 2nd city, and send the scout west. I might let Hut Curiosity get the better of me and go deep instead.




Still no contact with anyone but Q who, as of T11, hadn't adjusted his EP.

Scout has stumbled into a wildlife preserve; lions and even a bear menacing him. Only path of avoidance is back to the capital, so it looks like I'll be forced to head that way.

Nakor is Darius (FIN/ORG) of Maya (Holkan/Ball Court). He appears to have come from the east and survived an animal. Given all this jungle, he might be pretty far away. Switched EPs onto him.

Walking back to unfog the cows-pigs-gold some more and get some sight west of the capital. Turned around after seeing animals and increased jungle.




Potentially more interesting:




Coming up to the end of the preliminary micro plan. That cows/pigs/gold spot is pretty great, but I'll need some extra worker turns. Considering a spot on the grass hill 1S of the west cows, in order to share already improved tiles with the capital. It's not a strong long-term city, but may be a slightly better option. This might be for nought, as I think the initial site I previously indicated may end up as the stronger play both in terms of overall tile-yields and pushing settlement into the best areas I know.

Current plan is to grow to 3 and then start the settler. Takes quite a while, but I don't think I had much better options starting with these techs. I still need to squeeze out a warrior and another worker. Settler->Worker(1popwhip)-> overflow into warrior is an option as well. Surely, a scout can handle zone defense for 2 cities. shhh
