Our capitals are 10 tiles apart. He's exactly 9E-1NE.

Heh, I mean like how close is your Axe?

Oh, LOL. He's 2W of that Peak by the Cows. I'll be moving East next turn. Then need to decide if I'm going to go around the peak such that I'll get a look at the area around his copper (to make sure he doesn't have a settler near it) or to head south around the peak and just charge straight at his capital for a chance to maybe eliminate him. This would likely only be possible if he hasn't gotten Chariots or decided to get Archery for city defense which would likely stop my Axe from taking the city.

I'm thinking I should just rush the city and see what happens. smile

Quick question for any lurkers....if a Granary is built the same time a city grows....do you get the benefit of it?
Reply

no. Food starts to accumulate the turn after the granary finishes. So if the city grows on t40 and you finish a granary on t40, you will not have any banked food on t41.

So....didn't get a chance to post the other day (or really do much in the way of updates recently)....but, the war is on.

Don't have time to write up details right now as I have to run off to work. Kinda bummed that Barry didn't play his turn, since now I (and jowy) have to wait until I get home from dinner tonight for us to play. Since he would be playing after me.

Also just whipped out the spear I was making since a Barb is approaching....plus good to have in case Jowy has horses for chariots available before I can take his capital. Right now I'm just hoping I can destroy that city before he gets that copper hooked up, which is unlikely since he has 2 warriors in the city, 2 on the tile SE of it, and another one 1S of my Axe. I have another Axe a few tiles away, so hopefully the most Jowy can get out is 1 Axe in his capital since he gets Sailing next turn and will have instant access to the copper.
I had just killed his scout with my warrior from Asylum, which is why I'm at -2 GPT. That'll go back to -1 once I get him back inside my borders.

So as I realized the moment I did my first attack on the city, I kinda screwed up by not going straight to his copper mine to try to disrupt the workers from finishing it and/or destroying it right after they finished it. He now has at least 1, probably 2 axes out of his capital.
The good thing out of this is that I get 2 free workers out of it. Since I attacked the city last turn, leaving 1 warrior in it and he had 2 warriors guarding the two workers he had on the forest hill (obviously trying to chop out another axe), he was forced to move one of the warriors into the city so that I couldn't take it this turn. Leaving behind only one warrior to guard the workers. So I killed it and captured them before they could finish their chop.
My other axe has also now arrived on the scene, so unless the game hates me, the city will be razed next turn and then no more axes for him:

I probably shouldn't have since it basically used all my gold, but last turn I paid the gold to upgrade a warrior (the one that killed his scout and got enough XP for an promotion) so that I could have a City Attack promo axe to send into the battle. He needs another turn to heal before he heads out. I also finished my Spearman a couple turns ago, but he went over to the west to kill the Barb Warrior I saw. Then he'll head to the fight just in case Jowy hooks up any horses before I can capture his capital. And my capital is making one more Axe next turn, before starting on another Settler.
I got Animal Husbandry myself a couple turns ago and I have horses to my south, so I know where my next city is going.

Additionally, my exploring workboat finally met my second neighbor this turn...up north I met Bacchus (currently being played by Ataturk as a sub, I guess):

There's a settler on that hill too (the screenshot dropped all the details from the screen...keeps doing that sometimes for some reason), so looks like he'll be making another city on that GH south of the Peak. At least that's where I'd put it. smile
PS. Crazy map that there is a Stone no one can ever hook up, unless they settle a city right on it from a ship.

I think there can be an alternative way to hook up this stone.

So the copper city has been destroyed, but sadly I'll likely lose both my Axes (his warrior can probably kill the one that took the city who is at 0.8 health, and his axe can kill the first attacker who is at 2.6 health) and then have to destroy my scout and workers so that he can't capture them back, since they would be cornered. frown

But the important thing is that he can't make any more Axes. And I'll have 2 on their way to his capital, along with my Spear as backup. Though it'll be a good many turns before they get there, so really hoping he doesn't get any chariots out before I get there, but I'm sure he will.

On the exploration side of things, my lovely little workboat has now found GermanJoey.

Bacchus is 'ataturk', I think that he used that name in alaePB and never changed it.

I agree with 2metra.
